I listened to that Artie Lange interview, if I didn't know any better I would have thought he was on a morning zoo show in like Albequrque. The forced laughter, the awful attempts at jokes, the southern "everyman" accent. Holy SHIT is that show bad. Vic Henley is a fucking ear terrorist. It's like soccer mom radio.

My fav part of the show was Opie dropping a corny zinger on Phil Collins and Vic and another guest erupted for 15 seconds like it was the funniest thing ever said. You can hear in Opie's laugh in that few seconds how proud he was of that joke and also as he mumbled his followup to it.

Phil Collins says "you know I was supposed to go on Graham Hancock before here and I bet myself that was gonna be the first joke out of his mouth what you just said."

Opie was wounded and pouted.

Phil Collins was on? I know he was in town and did Fallon last night, but did Opie actually wrangle him?

I've held Phil in such high regard all these years.

Yea he got dragged out quick after like 20 minutes. I'm a fan too and was looking forward to it, and some of Opie's questions were just embarrassing as an interviewer. Hearing him talk, I can tell he is an actual Genesis fan, but then he gets Collins in studio and asks questions like:

(Plugs Collins new book and explains how some of it is about Collins becoming an alcoholic at age 55)

And Opie says, "so how's that going?" Just fucking awful.

The worst part about sitting on hold for 1-3 hours is that you're hearing the show. $10 is nothing if it means you get to avoid that dog shit.

Now that would be a great combination. Jim Norton's quick wit and Opie's knack for identifying material with good comedic value.
