Opie acting like the tough negotiator on Wednesday

76  2016-10-21 by PretzlKing

On the Wednesday show, Opie said (I'm paraphrasing): he went to Sirius and told them what he wanted for his show (his three main guys coming in and doing radio with him: Vic, Sherrod, and DeStefano), and after a lot of back and forth, they (comical angry voice) FINALLY GAVE ME WHAT I WAS ASKING FOR.

Funny revisionist history, only a couple weeks later. Remember, he admitted on air that Vic and Sherrod were pissed at him and not talking to him. I think the truth is more like....

Opie said he wanted x number of dollars to pay him and his boys. Sirius said, nope. Here's what we are offering. Take it or leave it. Opie went away, and came back with a revised amount. Sirius stood behind their initial offer. Opie tried one more time, and Sirius said, "you really don't have any negotiating power here.".

Opie accepted their offer, and emailed his boys and told them, sorry, the money just isn't there. But you guys can still come in and hang with me, and promote your gigs for free!

Understandably, Sherrod and Vic were pissed. But, a week or two later.....it's not like THEY have any better offers either. So they're back on the zoo crew, and Opie rewrites history to make it sound like he scored some kind of victory,

Once again I will reiterate that he says a lie and immediately begins to believe it himself. The man is Scorch.

Yep. Small idiot brain with huge sloppy tits

Well...for instance (not saying these numbers are in any way real...) If he says I want $1 mil, and they say no...and he says $750k...and they say no...and he says $500k...and they say no...and on and on...and he says $30k....and they say okay...then, they " FINALLY GAVE ME WHAT I WAS ASKING FOR."

FACT: Gregg Hughes makes 30k a year.

I bet Navy Di cleared twice that much working the doors at "Burger King Express" & "EZ ChekCashing" in lovely, picturesque Elizabeth, NJ.

Elizabeth isn't lovely or picturesque at all!

It's the "Wasn't me" approach. It works on dumb people if you stick with it long enough.

Yeah hed do shit like that and im almost convinced he believed his own lies. But yeah just stuck with wasnt me

Trump or dressing??

Without a doubt, he's really moving and shaking with the higher ups but he gets thrown around offices like he's a 3rd week intern.

Also this might be a reach, but Vic sounded a little tired/annoyed at the start of today's show before Artie came in. Maybe he was putting his best foot forward every day before today, trying to play it real smooth and match Opie's over the top weird hyper energy, the one he's been using as a diversion so his listeners are fooled into believing there's something worth listening to while the content is completely empty... Vic just trying to fake the chemustree in hopes that he would beat out Sherrod and DiStefano and grab that 2nd mic cohost spot permanently. Those Bruno royalties were drying up fast and he was ready to cash in on the Opie investment with a stable part or full time spot on the afternoon show. Then after all that effort stomaching Opie's daily horse shit, thinking there's still a chance, he logs on to Twitter yesterday and a big ugly picture of Cowhead is staring back at him... scans the caption, and disappointment quickly morphs into rage when he reads "Opie show" "cohost" "December". All that wasted time pretending Opie's remotely fun to be around thinking theres some actual money/stability on the other end of it and fucking Cowhead gets the spot without having done more than an hour of radio with Opie in his entire career. Yet he was still booked for today and like you said, he didn't have shit better to do as an alternative

He could've killed himself. That's something to do.

Bruno royalties?

He was in Bruno as the emcee at the cage fighting event.

I'm a bit disappointed that that hack was able to get any work.

"all that effort stomaching Opie's daily horse shit"

Line of the day.

I'm sure Vic knows that was a goof, unlike most of you here.

They say Opie has an eye for comedic talent, i think he has an ear for loud laughs and noises, i mean the constant cackling from Vic and the unintelligible words and screams Sherrod creates is infuriating but in the same category as Harry the hater. I think your hypothesis has some legs to stand on though, i kinda strayed away from the post because i was reminded of the horror.

Me: I was eating breakfast... Vic: *hyuck hyuck hyuck, "YOU were eating breakfast?" *more laughter. Unbelievable!" *wipes tear away.

That's the benington show. how many time are they going to laugh about e-sack falling down the chair?

So he went to the brass and said that he wanted vic and sherrod in? Did they even look up from their lunch before they said 'ok, we don't care?"

Let's do a little bit of maths here. If, talent wise, Howard Stern is worth 500 million over the course of a 5 year contract. I'd say, pound for pound, Sherrod is 'value' for 5 dollars tops. Over the course of a 5 year contract of course.

Anything above that, Sirius are getting ripped off.

Sharrod got fucked more by the canceling of race wars. Vic... is just Vic. After a little time opie probably hyped them up with even more dreams and now they've forgetten about it all like goldfish, unfunny goldfish.

No, you're wrong. Opie has clout.

He also has a chair in his office.

Understandably, Sherrod and Vic were pissed. But, a week or two later.....it's not like THEY have any better offers either.

Also possible that Sherrod and Vic's anger was completely manufactured so Opie could go to Sirius and say "see what you did now? Now I can't put on the show we both know would be the best one, and it's your fault." And instead of saying oh sorry Mister Hughes, we'll fix it promptly like he was counting on, they told him to go fuck himself for about the 500th time.

he went to Sirius and told them what he wanted for his show (his three main guys coming in and doing radio with him: Vic, Sherrod, and DeStefano), and after a lot of back and forth, they (comical angry voice) FINALLY GAVE ME WHAT I WAS ASKING FOR.

Is he saying that he actually got Vic, Sherrod, and Chris some money out of this?

That's what it sounded like to me.

I'm sure Vic and Sherrod are getting something. It might only be $50, cab fare, and breakfast, but they're getting something.

At the tail end of that gloriously awful 11:00 compilation of Tits' terribleness, he promised (threatened) that Vic is gonna be on "A LOTTTT!!!".

He wouldn't have sounded so titsure if Vic wasn't getting paid.

Notice how Mark Normand is not on that list. Mark probably hasn't taken hi call since the morning show promise fell through.

I doubt Mark would have ever been interested in a permanent spot on the show. He's flying around on private jets with a human-pig hybrid and getting paid tens of thousands of dollars for it.

Mark would have never taken the show. He earns way more on the road.

I would love Cowhead to bounce on Opie after a year; right around the time Opie's contract ends and Sirius decides to not renew it. Opie will act like he's making a decision on his own to "move on", while Sirius goes behind his back to offer the afternoon spot to Destefano, Sherrod or Vic (or all three).

This is really, really fucking cool to read.

I'm not gonna fucking drop a wall of text here, but, in everything this man has done, he FUCKING BROUGHT IT ON HIMSELF HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA
