Does anyone else have a hard time believing that far left-liberals enjoyed O&A?

Im more left leaning than most of the fine folk on this sub, but I enjoyed chuckling along with the boys antics and devil may care attitude.

DAE THE OTHER TEAM SUCKS??

Get the fuck out of here with your psychoanalysis bullshit faggot. O&A were at their zenith when the republicans were in power, squandering all of our treasure on foreign adventures and Bush's approval rating was like 11%. I imagine one or two people out of the remaining 89% listened to O&A.

The elite supported W and now support Clinton. Does not matter what party. It is all bullshit. So your question is bullshit too.

Liberals yes, Progressives fuck no

If you're left enough to like the young turks, you can't like it. If you're right enough to like Joel Osteen it's the same. There's no way u/bick_bickerson and the like enjoy Opie and Anthony.

I'm a huge O&A fan. I never agreed with much of what Anthony said, but he was really funny about it so it wasn't something that bothered me. That being said, his right wing faggotry ended up bleeding into the fanbase and we're left with the nonsense you see here.

It might have come from Anthony in some cases. But, even before Ant's political rants, there was a consistent theme on the show of being against political correctness and phony politics, which, during O&A's time, came from the left. So that definitely contributed to the resentment of liberals on this sub.

Yeah, that's valid, but I think of political correctness as a different thing - Stewart Lee called it "an often clumsy negotiation towards a kind of formally inclusive language" - and I don't have a problem with it, necessarily - I just don't think it should apply to comedy. I don't think it's okay for political leaders to go around calling trans people mentally ill freaks and drafting bills to keep them out of bathrooms, but I don't have a problem when comedians make jokes about shit like that. I see comedy as our "safe space" from needing to use all-inclusive inoffensive (and sometimes dishonest) speech.

That's the nuance that people here don't understand, and why my name got brought up here despite me not even noticing this thread. Someone can be liberal, or god forbid - progressive - without losing their sense of humor. The ultra-progressive left who want to bury comedians for jokes have a polar opposite, which you see here - the type of people who listen to old O&A and say to themselves, "Right on, Anthony! Finally, someone's telling the truth about those fucking niggers!". I find those people far more detestable than the aforementioned liberals because at least their hearts are in the right place, as annoying as they are, and neither of them are speaking in defense of comedy.

Far left liberals hate it as much as far right conservatives. They're both just as prude and intolerant as the other.

I dont think it's a left or right thing. Elitist douches left or right hate O&A. Post a clip of the show on any other subreddit and they would say shit like "why are they so mean??" "this is soo obnoxious"

I mean, I like a dirty, offensive joke as much as the next guy, but THIS was just too far!

Yech.

I enjoy tons of O&A. The only thing I can't tolerate is when Anthony got on his gun-sucking faggot routine with Zimmerman or Obama.

No. The further left you are the more cognitive dissonance you suffer from and are more likely to have contradictions

Shut up

Cry more

Yes

No, only far out liberals enjoyed O&A.

You obviously never visited the current events section of Wackbag.

I dunno, i feel like far out libertarian or socialist types have a good sense of humor.

I think when we usually say far left or far right we are basically talking about the same mindset people who just cheer for their home team. It's how you end up with Bill Clinton who was basically a slight right president is the liberal hero and demon to the Christian Right. And W was a slight left president who is a warmongering lunatic to the far left and a darling of the Christan Right.

It might have come from Anthony in some cases. But, even before Ant's political rants, there was a consistent theme on the show of being against political correctness and phony politics, which, during O&A's time, came from the left.
