Halfway through now and so far Sam has been almost as funny as Jim and Colin. He's had funny lines, never stepped on anyone else's lines or interrupted the funny, never steam rolled, he's set other people up. He's doing exactly what a good host should, he's doing the opposite of Opie.

Jimmy ruined another 'could have been good' interview... Sam is asking layered thoughtful questions and executing a very nuanced interview. He's got his research with the article he read, he's done his homework on Defoe... It was really going somewhere and then.... Jimmy... How was it working with De Niro? or whatever the fuck... His dumb direct questions just sideline the whole flow of the interview. You could obviously tell Sam was getting to the past stuff which would open up that dialogue... but Jimmy has to crowbar in his stupid "My favorite movie is..." And his Blue Collar comments were great, but still, Jimmy really is shitty at being a side-kick. - He's a good one liner guy or color guy... but he just sits there and makes retarded jokes. He complains about himself every five minutes... I'm tired, my stomach... blah blah... Never hear Sam bitching. Just eating his shit sandwiches. - Sally is gaining my respect and I hate that because I want to hate her. That caveman looking bitch. Step up your game Jimmy or shut the fuck up when grown folks are talking. - Colin is always a home run. Unless you give him his own TV show.

I'm re-listening to old Ron and Fez from 2011 right now. You can tell Sam's real mentor for being a host comes from Ron, not Opie. Sam learned if you want to do an engaging interview you have to do some prep on who you are interviewing and reach a level of dialog that surpasses dipshit Opie's "I read a half a chapter out of your book, how about that story from chapter 2?" No insight, no prep, no nothing.

I think he borrows a lot from Howard which is probably why he's so fucking good, but sure, I bet Ron is a huge influence. Opie didn't teach him about content or interviewing that's for damn sure. - But Jimmy's been at this forever and he's terrible at it. HAHAHA. It's actually funny that he sucks so hard after all these years. You REALLY see it when he's next to Sally.

That's totally how Jimmy acts. Jimmy needs to realize, the dumb Opie 'conversational' style show is over. Sure, it's a conversation show, but I mean that open forum shit... Sam has a good structure and if Jimmy is smart, he'll find a way to ride in that groove INSTEAD of doing the same thing. He just needs to adapt a bit. Sam could be a tad looser. They'll find a balance. I have hopes for these faggots.
