Sam's a good egg and a far better radio host than Titimus Maximus.
If he switched the shit sandwiches, chicken dinosaurs and 3 hours kip for a steak, mashed potato and spinach dinner with a fruit salad dessert and 8 hours in the sack, maybe he wouldn't look like a 53 year old Treblinka prisoner.
But what the hell do I know, as long as you do your job on the site and try to take care of yourself, another day another dollar am I right, team?
I think he's a fine host but would really like the show to have another strong presence as a permanent fixture (Anthony Cumia).
I love the way he plays the foil to a lot of Jimmy's characters but the segments where it's just Sam and Jimmy discussing a topic will never be great as neither Sam nor Jimmy is particularly good at storytelling or putting together verbose monologues (Anthony Cumia).
The three of them would make the perfect show, I won't disagree.
Of course It would be Ant and Jimmy and Sam would be running the show, chiming in once in a while. Basically O&A but replace Opie with Sam. Pretty much what we've been wanting all these years.
My god these last few days have been wonderful haven't they? Can't wait to see what happens to Opie in a year. Contract renewal? Suicide? :D
I like how Sam described himself as skinny fat in his response to opie segment that was posted. He talks about how he looks like shit, hopefully him and jim do an entertaining show.
Sam lets his show become overrun with his worst traits. Like Anthony, the only way to succeed is to keep the personal life and hobbies off the radio. Using his gig to meet all the wrestlers and try to make connections is fine as a podcast. I like Sam with Jim, but I would never and have never listened to a Sam Roberts Show by choice. And I also liked Special Delivery a lot. Sam is Opie, but stronger. He's great at being a pragmatic, vanilla host. The humor is in his insincerity.
