It's probably because talking with and meeting celebrities inflates their own sense of importance and relevance. I don't think they're considering the listeners when it comes to this.
honestly, yes. the interviews don't bother me. obviously i enjoy the comedians just fucking around, but i've always been a pop culture obsessed faggot so the celebrity shit is right up my alley. that being said, the guests themselves have been hit or miss thus far.
it would appear that way. i only got into the show about 2 years ago (and have since gone back through the archives), so I don't have the same reverence that most do for the "classic" O&A years (and don't have any expectations of a new show following old tropes).
I think most of us agree the interviews already suck a fatty, but they claim to have already had these people booked so they're "just working through the list". The least they could do is have Bobby or Colin or another comic (with nothing invested) come in during the interview so there's someone who can just be funny.
If they're still doing these shit interviews every show next week, with no comedians, I'll be just as annoyed. The last two shows I completely stopped listening during the interviews. /u/kelseycookcomedian (that's right you bitch) ruined the little potential the guests had.
I don't mind one 30-45 minute interview per show to break up the pace a little bit.
1st hour - waking up, personal life, any big news stories, mostly lower level bullshit, plenty of T-storm
beginning of the second 2nd hour - guest
rest - best part of the show with preferably a cellar comic every day
I like those first hours more than most people seem to, so that would be about 2 - 2 1/2 I'd be happy with. They need those boring celebrities to sort of keep the show on the radar so it doesn't start having an ESD-doing-a-podcast-in-a-basement feel to it. Like a couple of forgotten radio employees the company stuffed in a closet.
But more than one in 3 hours is annoying. Three in one show is fucking terrible.
I dont like it, but I dont outright hate it. Its a work in progress and Jim has favors to repay in bringing on these lame guests. But I hold no illusions that the show is perfect. Just better than O&J

That's the sirius machine. Run these who gives a shit guests thru the conveyor belt of sham shows. Ant-knee was the only hedge against these

Celebrity interviews were always the worst part of O&A. No idea why they're continuing with that on the new show.

No the show sucks. It wouldn't even be good for a podcast. I hope it's successful though, and that Opie gets fired next year.

How many minutes have they wasted this week on these shitty interviews? It has to be like 50% of the show.
