Holy shit yes. Opie is at his absolute most annoying when louie was in studio. He always gets into his "thats what WE do" sassy confident mood and ends up embarrassing himself (and the show) in front of louie. Hes like a child that had too much birthday cake and fruit punch and he just gets all hyped up and starts saying retarded things
I noticed we tend not to focus on the Opester often, so while we have one of our rare Opie threads I just wanted to put a thought out there.
What ultimately bothers me about Opie is he used to be the guy yelling in the background trying to be outrageous. I can deal with that because he's in the background and he's not drowning out actual conversation. A few years ago he started doing this thing where you could tell he puts his mouth directly against the microphone and screams.
He needs to be mixed lower on every show he does, because when the dusty gears in his head start turning and he thinks "gem incoming" it feels like he's screaming directly into my ear and I want to kill him.
I'm going to go kill myself now, thanks for reading my blog.
This really speaks to Opie's contributions: I'm about 5 minutes in and literally can't tell. The conversation is flowing as if Opie wasn't in the room.
The show is sure to crash & burn if there werent a rack of swaying, jelly-filled udders present to transfix the talent & guide them along the holy path of entertaining & compelling raqio.
no no don't do that. even though opie takes them, the answers that the real comedians give (including their frustration for taking the call) is pretty good. We just don't need to hear "lets go to snowy from michigan SNOWAAAY"
Thanks for getting rid of all the filler. That's all Opie was and someone you knew rarely added anything of substance to when the real talent in the room was talking.
While I don't agree at all with the accusation, I just had the awesome image of Louis CK in Watchmen as Rorschach screaming YOU THINK I'M STUCK IN HERE WITH YOU?!
i think he meant married guys who would rather be unemployed rather than work at a gas station because it would make their wife think less of them when the woman has no such qualms
I'd be careful with the hot chick images. Youtube is fucking batshit now and will take videos down for the slightest things. "Partial nudity" could be applied to lots of those girls.
Nobody is going to watch much of these videos except fans who don't care, but it's really easy to be a cunt on Youtube and get something taken down nowadays.
How petty are you people? You all act like Opie came through your radio and slapped your mom/sister/girlfriend/wife.
So now you gotta give Opie the ol' "final solution" where you go through 20 years of back catalogue and just remove him like he never existed.
So much hate and pettiness, and for what? A show you listen to? Way to make it about yourselves, just like the rest of the self absorbed population. It's about you, I forgot...
Good point. I didn't even think opie fans would care if someone edited a show and put it on youtube for who gives a shit who, a couple people. It's interesting that there was a time when opie went on a campaign and made sure nopies were taken off youtube, while leaving all other O&A content alone. He's the only person on the planet I could picture - if not understand - being upset by it. And then this faggot here comes along and shows his hand.
Makes you wonder how close to opie he is. I bet they tit fuck each other in real life.
Hate and pettiness isn't what fuels things like this. Love for the show is. Allot of people felt that Opie was more of a detriment to the show than a help. People got fed up with his negativity and bullshit for years. Shows without him were allot better to listen to. People were allowed to riff without stupid callers and lame feedback interrupting every couple of minutes.
Nothing petty about filtering the shit out of some thing good for an optimal listening experience. You seem to be triggered for some odd reason by this basic refining process, buddy.
I listened despite him, you brainless halfwit. I like Jimmy, Ant, and well over a dozen other stand ups who were regulars. I listened because it was better than all other comedy entertainment even with opie there to hinder everything. But it could have been 50 times better than that if he had developed a terminal brain tumor somewhere around 2005.
That this distinction obviously has not occurred to you makes me think you're incapable of even short division.
You just can not get this unbelievably simple concept through your tiny, shriveled up little bean of a head, can you?
OK. Let me try an analogy I'm sure you'd identify with. Let's say your girlfriend is a fat disgusting mess, but she has 20 friends who are all 10's and she lets you fuck all of them. If you broke up with her, you'd lose all contact with all of her friends, permanently. Would you break up with her?
This makes no sense. Analogies aren't supposed to be posed as questions. It's a better insight into your bean of a head than anything else. Everything is "my way or fuck you" and sex analogies.
Here's a better analogy: Your head is the equivalent of the needle disposal box at a free clinic.
I'm not asking a question you moron. I'm attempting to circumvent your atrocious lack of ability to understand why I would listen to a show with opie on it by way of an explanation.
Explanation is what teachers get paid to do. But I guess some children are just hopeless and always will be. That's what the short buses that sneak through alleys to the school annexes are for.
"If you broke up with her, you'd lose all contact with all of her friends, permanently. Would you break up with her?"
Sounds like a question to me.
I'm attempting to circumvent your atrocious lack of ability to understand why I would listen to a show with opie on it by way of an explanation.
Your explanation was that the show was "the best comedy entertainment by far" And I was simply pointing out that includes Opie. I am just trying to figure out why you have such intense hatred for someone you don't even know and listened to for thousands of hours. That to me is the issue. Even with all the comedy gold from other sources, if your hatred for opie burns this hot, why the fuck would you listen to him for thousands of hours? You haven't explained that. Especially when you compound the fact that there's probably an equal amount of content from Jim Norton and Anthony Cumia by themselves and with other comics available all over the place.
You're just one of those people that likes to be filled with hate and anger. You get off on yelling and hating things and people. I'd respect you a lot more if you just said that instead of trying this "holier than thou" thing that you and everyone else is doing. Oh and the regurgitated generic lines and insults you keep pulling out from the show just demonstrates how pathetic you really are. The only explanation for your state of mind is that you hate your own miserable pathetic life and can't do anything about it, so you lash out at things and people you aren't even involved with.
Have you ever heard of redundant questions? That's what that was. I could have easily replaced "would you" with "of course you wouldn't".
Even with all the comedy gold from other sources, if your hatred for opie burns this hot, why the fuck would you listen to him for thousands of hours?
You've been more civil than I have, so you deserve a real answer.
The good outweighs the bad. It's as simple as that.
Jimmy
Ant
Regan
Attell
Patrice
Burr
Louie
Vos
Bobby
Colin
Dice
Bonnie
Soder
Normand
Davidson
Rogan
Nick
I like all of them, and Sirius is where they were at and more importantly, where they were together the most. It's a matter of quantity. In a lot of cases you could get little fixes here and there on other radio shows and podcasts, but there was always the glue of Jim and Ant to bolster everything.
Analogy time again. There's a retard in your family, and you don't like it. It doesn't mean you kill the retard, and it doesn't mean you leave the area and your family just to get away from the retard. You just deal with them.
there's probably an equal amount of content from Jim Norton and Anthony Cumia by themselves and with other comics available all over the place.
First, we're talking about 20 years. You acknowledged that when you quoted me saying 'decades'. So no, there is not.
Second, Ant sucks hard without Jimmy. I didn't know he'd go this route, and it's an unpleasant surprise. Either way, it's not any kind of alternative.
I'd respect you a lot more if you just said that instead of trying this "holier than thou" thing that you and everyone else is doing.
I guess I feel the need to go to extremes because I am genuinely astonished by your "if you don't like opie, it makes no sense to listen" point of view. I don't believe your claim to actually think that way, and I get fed up by everyone else who makes that same claim, because I feel that they're being dishonest.
Have you ever heard of redundant questions? That's what that was. I could have easily replaced "would you" with "of course you wouldn't".

Literally thousands of hours of their stand up and other shows they've done is available. Your argument would be a little more easy to digest if sat radio was the ONLY place you could hear them... But it's not.
I am genuinely astonished by your "if you don't like opie, it makes no sense to listen" point of view.
It's not that you don't like him... It's the degree of which you don't like him. You seem to have some serious hate complex when it comes to him. My point is that if you hate him so much, why keep listening? If you were of the opinion that opie genuinely ruins the show, then that would outweigh the "good" spots from the comedians that you like.
You just sound like someone that's listened for years and just hopping on the "hate opie" bandwagon.
So you're self aware of what an ignorant brick wall you were being and doing it just because?
No. The contempt is real and justified.
if sat radio was the ONLY place you could hear them
Again, all condensed in the same place. You of course know your suggestion is unreasonable. To even try to match the same amount I'd have to listen to much more total hours of those other shows per week than there are hours in a week. Here's Vos plugging a gig in Florida, here's Burr on shitty Maron, here's Soder on 50 awful shows I don't like. So, quantity.
And again, much more importantly, they're not all together. You're not going to get Jimmy/Colin/Patrice/Vos/Bobby all skewering each other anywhere else. There was always the promise of the Vos roast, Norton roast, spinning wheel of hate, many others that are entirely unique. You have no chance whatsoever to hear something like that on another show. So, quality. Tits-be-damned quality.
