Listen for the part where Gregg explains his position on the Exclusive Guests argument in regards to Jimmy's show.
He states that Jim is spreading bullshit, because he never told any comics that they couldn't do Jim's show. All he did was tell Doug Benson that he didn't want him to Jim's show for a while, because it doesn't feel right to him yet.
Opies right. It's everyone else that's the asshole. It must be rough being the only honest fella in New York city. I gotta be honest. I hope he kills himself.
I used to think that stuff like this was a case of him getting caught up in his own lies, but he completely sounded as if there was some justifying nuance in there. He truly is going insane.
He is getting caught in his own lies. He's just forgotten that they're lies. He's a bit like Erock in that way.
EDIT: Before the downvotes cascade due to my suggestion that Erock might not be the most honest person, I will present the entire Hurricane Sandy branch incident: https://youtu.be/eZDonb1TTpE?t=5925
Just realized Sam & Jim fucked Opie by having Ant call in. Everyone now knows he was the one blocking ant from being on so the only thing to do was having him call into his own terrible show.
The Irony of Opie saying "now that's chemustreee ,I miss that." after saying "the chemustreeeeee was gone for a while there" just 2 years ago, infuriates me.
"oh what, you think I'd fall for that hack super-sudsy bubble-bath trick? , Ni mniit's like the science fair volcanos? Mm.nhyea I think I shoud prank my kids, Actually my kids would be howwling at that one, wait, ywah thanks a lot actually, thanks for my newest youtube video idea, how the fuck does that feel?"
Multiple times in this show, he makes the point that Jim made it hard for him to do radio (eg pointing out that it was a nice change for Vos to listen to him and laugh at some of his jokes).
It's strange, because I could swear that in every O&J show I listened to, Jim is actively trying to engage and make whatever drivel Opie comes up with exciting and funny, but Opie would blow by any potential for funny dialogue and either ignore or actively try to remove funny things that Jim did from the show.
It's very telling that it's Vos listening and laughing that he thinks makes a good radio partner. He doesn't want someone who's good at radio. He literally just wants someone to pat him on the back and tell him he's a good boy who did a good job (see: Vic Henley, Sherrod).
He's confusing easy radio with chemistry. Obviously, the first time Opie and Anthony speak together on air after 2 years is going to be easy radio for an hour, but it didn't go smoothly with the Rich and Paul yelling nonsense the entire time. I would root for Opie and Anthony doing something together again, they've done the 2 year absence before, maybe they can do it again.
Edit: Can you imagine the energy this sub would have if they got back together.
Actually Opie got in a "Paul Mercurio isn't famous" line, let's be fair. It wasn't particularly funny and only got pity laughs, but with Opie's -75 handicap, that's a joke of the year for him.
It was glorious, when Ant said "what time does Bonnie tell you to leave", Vos said "at least I don't have to help her with her homework", then Ant said "you couldn't help a first grader with her homework"....that absolutely took me back to the day and warmed my heart.
Opie was almost tolerable at times, but this is the exact type of energy he had for like 3 shows after Ant's firing too. I can't wait for it to plummet, and this time he doesn't even have Jim to carry him. It's going to be beatifully awful.
If I listened to this show with no prior knowledge it would be so fucking confusing. How did this raving schizophrenic and his mush-brain psychiatrist get a show?
Loved it though, for all the wrong reasons, of course. It's every Opie quirk we've destroyed him over magnified to a thousand.
I'm convinced Vos must owe Opie money or some shit. His "loyalty" to opie makes no sense with the way he treats treated by Him on air unless you look at it from the angle he owes opie a couple of months of living expenses,
100k? Was that said at some point or are u just making that up? Documentaries are the cheapest kind of movie to make. And even though Opie would think "Gregggg 'The Feminist Movie Producer' Hughes" had a nice ring to it, I find it hard to believe he'd be willing or able to put up 100k as a favor to a "friend".
At 35:30 tits randomly started singing "STARTING OVERRR!" and then 30 seconds later complained that Vos was stealing the show because Vos was relating to Opie with a story of his own. How can anybody say this show was good?
Yeah, we had that on Anthony's show and it wasn't as good as OnA. Ive never been one to defend Opie, but if they all apologized, siriusxm relaxed and they merged everything back together it would be two or three times as good as anything they'd all put out alone. Except, actually, opie could be Sam and fuck Opie.
I don't know what people think Opie will add to the show. Are we back to believing the whole "steer the ship" bull shit? If so Sam would steer the ship way better than Opie could. Jesus what the fuck is happening to people here?
It's because Anthony has sucked since he turned into a bitter racist. He will be that on any platform. Build a time machine and bring back 2006 Anthony.
Someone besides Ant needed to be the show runner in those TACS episodes so he could sit back and be funny. He was always too concerned with where the conversation would go next. He really sucks as a host. But it didn't need to be Opie.
It also didn't help that every time Jim showed up they actually had to do some catching up and usually had at least one serious fuck-up of Ant's that sober Jim had to address.
No I miss Opie the destroyer in small doses.... Steve the Whistler bit was hilarious and it wouldnt have happened if not for the opster..... I want O and A back! It's why we are all here anyways. The main Sub for radio personalities who havent worked together in years is still called OpieandAnthony. Deep down, beneath the Opie hate, we all want this.
Opie the Destroyer died with the Sirius takeover. Half of the reason those bits worked is that they were at large companies that could fuck with guests and get away with it. XM/Elo understood this. Sirius doesn't.
Ant kissing his guests ass is just stomach turning.
"I'll keep an open mind"-Opie at the end of the interview
Am I the only one that interpreted that as Opie hinting that he and Anthony should keep an open mind in regards to working together again instead of it as Opie blowing off Anthony's hangout request. I took it as Opie trying to tease the fans about a reunion, whether or not there is anything behind that is a whole nother story.
I think its kind of funny that Anthony can't really explain Torpid Sloth. It totally made sense in context but if you have to explain it, its such a pointlessly "sounding smart" slam. Gavin's no Colin Quinn
Before the subreddit, it was message boards. People have a short memory. The boards used to hate jimmy. They wanted shows w just opie and Anthony. In fact jim used to keep his mouth shut for the first hour so the two could riff. They got famous without jim. To me some of the best radio was when jim went to la and burr/patrice filled in everyday. The fetishizing of ant and jim is silly. Opie and Anthony are good on the radio together and terrible apart.
As much as I hate to give that useless asshole Keith The Cop any credit; he did organize this "sit-down" between the two shows. So I gotta give it to him there.
Call me a mushy douche with a think little tapioca skin but I thought it was sweet when the boys reconnected. They're good without that wormy little Yoko.
Opie completely talked out of both sides of his mouth saying, "I went to bat for you" then, "but I think we needed a break", which says he absolutely didn't go to bat for Ant.
Fuck it, that call gave me some great laughs. Both were being self-deprecating and rolling with the punches. Vos was quick and savage. Dammit, I'm an O&A fan.
It just reminds me of the time I talked to a friend with whom I had a bad falling out. It never felt good having that failed friendship over my head like shadow. Felt great relief after we mended shit. I don't think O and A will be back together in any substantial capacity, but I'm sure it was good for them to finally talk it out. Should have done it years ago. Not good to hold onto a grudge.

I know. I just said that. I'm positing:
Jim and Ant on Sirius > Opie, Jim, and Ant on Sirius > Jim and Ant on Ant's show

Opie's genius wanting shorter contracts in the age of podcasts and streaking media

What a fat idiot

Fuck it, that call gave me some great laughs. Both were being self-deprecating and rolling with the punches. Vos was quick and savage. Dammit, I'm an O&A fan.
It just reminds me of the time I talked to a friend with whom I had a bad falling out. It never felt good having that failed friendship over my head like shadow. Felt great relief after we mended shit. I don't think O and A will be back together in any substantial capacity, but I'm sure it was good for them to finally talk it out. Should have done it years ago. Not good to hold onto a grudge.

I just threw up in my mouth

Yeah, I figured the autist out-of-work truckers of this subreddit would respond like this. But, sometimes you gotta think for yourself.
O&A was some good radio for a long time. Separate, they'll be out of the industry by 2018, if not earlier. Don't even try to deny it.

I'm 24, never worked as a trucker, and my autism is mild.

You know what? I stand corrected.

Listening to Opie talk is like listening to your Mom being taunted with a machete

Except most of the time during dental work they give you vicodin and nitrous.
