Comedy dealing with controversial shit needs to have a hot take. Chris Rock is an annoying performer but he has fresh and interesting opinions on things. There's no hot take on Trump, it's just people going up and saying he's an evil racist piece of shit. Same with Hillary, she's an evil corrupt piece of shit. And then people nod and clap, hope that was worth the $80 you paid to get in.

People know what they are paying for. Do you think people go to a Bill Maher show where the tour is called "The Decider" or "... but I'm Not Wrong" and the theme is politics and they are disappointed to hear him doing political humor? Again, this is only something that is surprising if you are going to a show where it's Bobby Kelly or Jim Norton or some other comic who made their bones talking about blowing their friends as a kid and how expensive hookers are in certain cities and then you sit down and suddenly the comic is on stage pontificating about the election for 60 minutes. Then you have a gripe. If you are going to a Patton Oswalt show and you are caught off guard that he's talking about politics then you paid for a comic you didn't even really know. That's on you.

But then don't come around on your high horse saying everyone could be batching up because some comedian insulted Hillary, I am explaining to you why nobody would care. If Patton was tricking people into coming to his shows and then once he has a captive audience he suddenly starts lecturing them about Hillary being great and Trump being Hitler then, again, you'd have a point. That isn't what's happening. People are getting mad that Patton is talking about Hillary on twitter... nobody is losing money over this. Nobody is being cheated by this. People are sad that he is a "cuck" for not blowing Trump.
