Trying to resurrect the past would be foolish of Jimmy, it's time to move on. Both Opie & Anthony are currently shells of their former selves (although I guess Opie always sucked but still), if Jimmy was smart he'd be lobbying his ass off to all comedians to constantly do the show. Like 3 good comedians a day just bullshitting, nothing more & nothing less then I believe Jimmy would be successful.

No, Jimmy even said today that having comedians on every day was an Opie thing because there was no chemistry between he and Jim. When discussing it yesterday, Jimmy said it best when he said Anthony was able to just be funny having a normal conversation and had talent and that even he (Jim) is good in that context because he can fire off one liners. He said specifically, "Anthony could talk about working on HVAC for an hour and it was interesting". Frankly the dynamic of all three of them was what worked, but Jimmy and Anthony would be a good show. Jimmy's spots on Ant's network have pretty much proven that.

If you are going to hypothetically rebuild the Jim-Ant dynamic and replace Tits with Curls, you've got something, potentially. But it could also suck donkey balls compared to the golden era if you get political Ant and the same neurotic wormy Morton.

You make a good point & I agree with you to a certain extent but extreme political Anthony is not fun or funny & that aspect of his personality seems to dominate his thoughts these days & I don't know if he could just turn that off. Also I'm not talking about the same format that Opie had with the comedians I'm imagining a completely different. A show where comedians who Jimmy vibes with sit around & riff for the majority of the show, that was one of the best parts of the show at its peak along with Ant & Jims chemistry but since it's unlikely for an Ant & Jimmy show at least the show could reasonable recapture the era of good comics sitting around & making us laugh.

The thing about Anthony's political rants on O&A was that you did have liberal Opie and moderate Jimmy to counterpoint him. I do agree that he has gone very political, but a lot of that stemmed from them discussing the news (and I am saying this from the standpoint of someone who leans politically to the right of center). Unfortunately the news started to get very identity politics and racial in the last decade. Still, I just want to have the "Hang Out Show" again. At the end of the day, I just want to drive and listen to the guys bull shitting like normal guys do when we hang out.

I'm not opposed to Anthony coming back at all, I'd love to see what would happen but I truly think that's an impossibility at this point. I don't think SXM wants him in their building let alone on the payroll. It seems that we're both wanting the same "Hang Out Show" again & I think that one way it might be accomplished is by getting a solid roster of funny comics that get along & can all riff well together. I'm not talking about having the same guys on day after day but a steady rotation of hilarious people who show up 2 or 3 times a month.

i disagree, he can definitely still be funny.

even if it's the same old jokes and references, it's not like jimmy has evolved anymore than ant has over the years and we generally still enjoy him; when there's a competent navigator (sam) leading the way.

ant just isn't great on his own because he steers the ship in political and racial waters and that shit is just boring. i think thrown in a room with sam and jim there'd be some great results, though that may take some time.
