I just had a horrible thought

It's looking increasingly likely that Opie, without a hint of irony, actually believed that some people tuned in to listen to him. That Jim and Ant were middling distractions to the Opie show, which people may have enjoyed as a side act, but wouldn't have bothered with if Opie wasn't the marquee draw. I can't seem to shake this idea; someone please talk me out of it!

From his twitter and phoners, it appears that a limited number of people, seemingly mostly truckers, listened to Opie and were genuine fans. So to Opie he thought he had a big following.
In any case you shouldn't worry about it too much, you mentally ill zilch.

I wonder how many of those people actually exist. I know they don't all have twitter but the amount of responses to Opie's tweet's is dismal. I'd be surprised if there were even a thousand people who tune in and are never bothered by Opie.

Check out "opiequotes" on Twitter. I am certain it's Opie running a 2nd account.

I'd guess that too, also guess that the target Opie market is ~50 year old new listeners who don't like change and couldn't care less about quality humour content. They just like the voice and noise company.

opie has hundred of thousands of fans. many people in the twitter feed have said they will cancel if he isn't re-signed. 99.9% of the bbboys audience doesn't post here so you can't judge how popular opie is based on reddit.

How do you figure that?
