Once again, he'll copy Howard. He tries to be like Howard so bad, trying to follow in his footsteps just because he can't figure anything out on his own.

Opie really wanted to be a rival, and deep down there's a mutual respect and they would put an end to their beef one day as equals. He probably imagines Stern going like "me and this guy, we go WAY back. But you all know the stories." In reality Stern doesn't acknowledge Opie or any of his desperate attempts to be on the radar. He's somewhere between stalker and troll.
