Ya Know that's a picture of D-Day, and Patton had no active role in the invasion. On June 6 1944, Patton was sitting on the shores of England at the head of a fake army. He was part of the largest and most successful deception operation of World War II. Operation Quicksilver was part of a larger deception plan called Operation Fortitude South/Operation Bodyguard. The plan was used to cloak the build up of the Allied Army and disguise the destination of the invasion.

My dad used to beat me

I wish he still did

Not enough

My grandfather has a funny story about General Patton. Patton was yelling at his division (1st Armored division) for getting too many STD's while they were in North Africa. And one of the men in the division was drunk and started back talking Patton. A few days later Patton got the last laugh by making 2 of the tanks drive as far as they could past enemy lines until they ran out of gas. When the men later found those guys they had both been killed.

Patton also ordered a secret raid on a POW camp to rescue his son in law. Thousands of american prisoners thought they were being liberated only to find out they were still way behind American lines and only high ranking officers(Patton's son in law) could be brought back. Of the raiding party 30+ were killed and several hundred taken prisoner themselves and only 35 made it back.

My grandfather was an early SIGINT officer in the FUSAG as part of Fortitude. One day he comes out of the mess smoking and joking and he and his buddy fail to render to Patton. He tore their assholes open and said he was going to shoot them. He didn't, but a German in the Ardennes did. He got a 70% disability and I got a Luger when he died.
