Its worse than has been described (link to show)

Dear god, this is without a doubt the most horrendous shit I have ever heard. You can hear the high pitched panic and lack of confidence in his voice from the very beginning; he tries to cover it by singing some shit song repeatedly, but we all know better. This imbecile is a big titted retard.

I gave it a shot because I legitimately have not listened to this show in over two years. And I tried to be as objective as I could. I made it to the 2:35 mark. Physically, I can keep listening, but I stopped because I can see exactly where this is going.
What is this singing thing Opie is doing? Is it nervousness or is it a bit he is trying to get off the ground?
He's bouncing back and forth between fake over the top radio guy voice and low, rough "I don't give a fawwwwk" "it's a hang, maaaan" voice. Opie doesn't have a personality. He doesn't know who he is after 55 years on this planet. He is an empty vessel that he fills with other people's personality traits.
"I can do it by myself very easily"
MOTHER FUCKER NO YOU CAN'T! You can not, under any circumstances, do a radio show by yourself. This is one morning, one mother fucking morning, where people who aren't even officially part of the show can't make it into the studio and you are fucking PANICKING! You are "scrambling" to get a show together because your guests couldn't make it in one time!
One minute. One fucking minute into the show and he's off the rails "scrambling" to put out the potential dumpster fire that would be Opie on air by himself. Again, his guests bailed on him. They are guests of the show, not show members. You should not lose your mind if your guest cannot make it. The staff are still there. A radio show should still be very possible. In fact, get this, Opie - most radio shows don't have to rely on guests to save them every single day. They can actually produce content without relying on outside forces. It's crazy, I know, but it can be done, Opester.
No, Opie. No. You wish you had the talent to be boring. If you could get on the radio alone and simply be boring you'd be a competent radio host. But you cannot even do that. You lack the most basic of social and mental skills to produce boring radio. You are not scrambling because you're afraid to have one boring day of radio. You're scrambling because you know that you can't do any radio alone. You are simply the worst.
27 EskimoEscrow 2016-09-08
Are you saying Opie isn't good at radio?
20 BoardroomBimmy 2016-09-08
He's not even good enough to be bad at radio. He is in the wrong career altogether.
7 ihaveaholeinmyass 2016-09-08
Can you expand on why you think this?
19 whydontUlovemeLyndsi 2016-09-08
my buddy said that he once kicked a homeless man to death but I dunno I just came here from /r/all
2 georgie_best 2016-09-08
i heard he did it for a cake. but he hates cake! that's what's twisted about it.. the homeless guy survived actually but lost his cake.
2 frrunkis 2016-09-08
I'm not sure if we have any proof of that but we should definitely spread that information throughout the web.

2 TriangleDimes 2016-09-08
It's true, it's like if you gave a mic to someone who has never done radio before. They just flounder and laugh nervously at themselves and try to shrug it off like they don't even care.
9 michaeIcolestie 2016-09-08
For all the shit this sub gives Ant's show, he's been doing it solo for 2+ years.
1 yklef 2016-09-08
Yeah... and how's that working out for him? Dude ended up fucking a Tranny and in Rehab. Now his inbred brother is going after the family jewels.
2 marrio91 2016-09-08
At least he'll have a job in literally one month.
6 PretzlKing 2016-09-08
Great points. It is hilarious how in denial he is. He actually spent half an hour on the phone with Chris Destefano while he was riding in, asking every couple minutes, "where you at now?".
He produced nothing interesting, other than the train wreck of him being in full panic. I was yelling at my radio when he said "I can do it by myself". He even implied that he HAS done it by himself often in the past. No, no he hasn't. Anthony and Jimmy have both done shows on their own, often. Opie either NEEDS some of his crutch guests, or he just stayed home when Ant or Jimmy took time off.
He even put an emergency call in to Vic Henley, and old dependable unfunny Vic ignored him. Today, all of Opie's stable of hack comics deserted him. He has never been more grateful for e-rock and Denny Falcone.
-3 yklef 2016-09-08
It was funny. Sometimes non-scripted segments can be entertaining. I found it alright. Sorry that your high standards for comedy were offended this morning. Need a hug?
1 PretzlKing 2016-09-08
Nope, I'm good, thanks. But we shall have to agree to disagree, good sir. I tried listening last week when opie came in for an afternoon show, and found nothing entertaining about that, either. He is not funny, smart, or entertaining. Without his crutches, he cannot stand, let alone walk.

I made it about 50 seconds. I know this is a reddit populated with funny people, so what I've written may be misconstrued as a joke. I assure you, it wasn't. 50 seconds.
2 keemers 2016-09-08
I spent all day in the ER with excruciating abdominal pain. I listened out of boredom/ desperation and needed something that would not make me laugh. At least that part was a success. I have come to realize that ANY nopie show is better than Op's best show itch great guests. I loved the Sam & Jim and would have liked to have heard all of them and even the Kevin Smith ones, but strangely enough, they didn't make it to my on demand. I wonder if he instructs them to not upload some of the nopie shows because he doesn't want people to hear how much better the show is without him. I wish he'd just hang it up already.
1 philtheprince 2016-09-08
Did he actually say this? During one of the Ant vs Opie moments?
4 BoardroomBimmy 2016-09-08
That was a quote from today.
2 PretzlKing 2016-09-08
He said it then, too, probably, but he said it today, as he was proving that he cannot do it by himself.

Top 3 post I've seen in the two years I found this board.
26 twinkskc 2016-09-08
Wow he pulled E-Rock in immediately. He couldn't just bullshit for even two minutes before roping in the staff.
Jim and Anthony have both had to start O&A with the others not in the studio and they're able to just talk about their drive in or their previous night's activity, letting the others chime in if they want.
Opie doesn't even have typical conversation skills, let alone that of a 40 year radio host. Not that it hasn't been said but god damn, he is a pathetic shit bag.
2 yklef 2016-09-08
Maybe they should call back Kevin Smith so that we can hear a detailed expose on that one time he met JJ Abrams for another 2 hours.

The reason everybody cancelled on him - idiot - is cuz Pete and Chris have beef with each other over the girl Pete stole from Chris after they had been bffs. Once they found out the other was going to be in, they both cancelled. Chris has talked about this on the air but never mentioned it was Pete Davidson. Clueless Opie and Clueless Roland never saw it coming.
-1 brmlb 2016-09-08
Bffs? Who says Bffs and means it?
17 GRIZx 2016-09-08
I'm reveling in hearing Opie panicking. How the fuck is he ever going to carry his own show?
4 goo-gobbler 2016-09-08
Hey a captain can't steer a ship on his own. Let's just sit back at watch him steer it into a shoal.
3 cakehornnigga 2016-09-08
He won't let that happen ever again. You can bet that he will be securing more backup guys so this doesn't happen. He is totally void of talent, or even basic communication skills.
2 Mr702law 2016-09-08
All he really needed to do was bring Travis in and pick a topic. Travis can carry an hour or so until they figure something else out. Travis was in there but he should have been particularly engaging him.

5 GRIZx 2016-09-08
He didnt bring in talent, hes been skating for years... relying on Norton and his comedian friends. Now none of nortons friends do the show anymore. Now Opie is out of touch, he has no idea who or what is popular because he refuses to try to stay modern.10 bucks says the reason that Distefano came on the show is because Opies wife watches Girl Code, or whatever he was on.
He intentionally goes out of his way to be out of touch, he does no show prep and relys on everyone else in the room to keep the flow going.
1 Hunter_Cumia 2016-09-08
Jim and Anthony is more out of touch, still referencing casino or what ever the fuck deniro movies

Yes. Yes he did. That's the point of being a late night talk show host. It doesn't mean Letterman was the sole focus of attention for every minute of the show, but he absolutely did carry the whole show on his own.
It seems like you're trolling, but you should at least try to sound like you know what you're talking about.
16 spinuch 2016-09-08
The part where he sings and immediately after he stops he says "everyone canceled on me" is hilarious.

1 dumbshowreference 2016-09-08
Exactly. Thought the same thing. That clip where Ron forgot his badge and Fez had to take the stick for 2 whole minutes. Ron literally had to comfort him when he eventually came in.
Imagine the relief in Opie's voice if Ronnie walked in after the first few minutes of this show. Though he'd eventually probably say something like "Don't get me wrong Ron Bennington.. I always love doing great radio w/ you.. but I was actually starting to get excited about going solo today tuhbeehonestwitchyuh. sniff"
7 TriangleDimes 2016-09-08
I can't stop laughing at how plainly terrible this is.
2 FloggingTheHorses 2016-09-08
Is that not some kind of strange form of humour? I have to admit there is something compelling about how awful it is. Wears off after a few minutes though, where you realise how mundane and monotonous it truly is.
7 joomommyhappy 2016-09-08
I'm not sure if pseudo-casually drowning Opie is my favorite Opie, or my least favorite Opie.
I haven't figured it out yet.
He actually used the word "scrambling" when describing what it took to find people, and that we have "no idea" what it takes to set up/get people to be guests on a radio show.
A phone call? An e-mail? If you get a "no" back, you go to the next guy on the list.
As if he spent his vacation in a lab, concocting the perfect cocktail of radio entertainment, only to have it go whimsically wrong in a comic explosion.
He walks over to the blackboard to go over his calculations. He forgot to carry the Florentine! What is he, 4?
God, I hate him. He's so dumb it's almost fascinating, which is way more than he deserves, and that makes me hate him even more.
Re-sign him? Based on what we're hearing, they're entitled to ask for money back from his current deal.
2 Skip4play 2016-09-08
Seeing that he delegates the task of bringing in people, he has no idea what it takes. If he tried to get someone, he would go straight to " Ill cut you check if you can come in" because nobody really would do him a favor last minute. If your name is on a radio show you should be able to carry YOUR show solo if shit hits the fan. While the rest of the staff tries to get him someone to talk to. Fuck its a shame he gets paid so much for this.
1 Mick_Mickerson 2016-09-08
Cocktail of radio entertainment. I lol'd
6 itrits 2016-09-08
Tapping after just 4 minutes in. I get the point; it's awful.
This man has been doing radio since he was 18 apparently, but is in a noticeable and pretty embarrassing panic when he has to do radio by himself for a few hours. That speak volumes; also, freudian slip when he said "I can do radio by myself, but it would be boring".
6 Kurt_Love 2016-09-08
I hope nobody tweets Pete that Opie said its not ok for him to cancel on the opester.
1 PretzlKing 2016-09-08
Opie is such a star fucker. He thinks Pete is a big celebrity, so he kisses his ass. If anyone else (who wasn't on SNL) had cancelled on him at the last minute, they would be dead to him.

8 racemic_mixture 2016-09-08
At one point they were actually listing off snacks that were in some supply cabinet that was going to be relocated. That is about the most mundane level of chatter at standard office job. They were doing live pay to listen radio broadcast internationally though.
5 AppleBonfire 2016-09-08
It's really, really bad. His show relies on "his guys" but why would they want to continually carry him without getting paid? He hasn't got a show without a competent co-host and it doesn't seem like Morton is going to continue.
5 im_not 2016-09-08

2 PretzlKing 2016-09-08
Haha....he said something like, "that is the first time the word annually was ever used on this show."
Ummmm....what does he think annually means? That kinda blew my mind.
3 GiygasFetus 2016-09-08
Riveting banter from the Oqester.
2 BoardroomBimmy 2016-09-08
I think he was just so out of his mind from the thought of having to do a solo show that his brain was telling him to just shout out random words and phrasee like the Colonel at the end of Metal Gear Solid 2.
1 [deleted] 2016-09-08
The thing is.. I knew what he meant, but he's just so bad at communicating that he couldn't respond right.
4 FloggingTheHorses 2016-09-08
Is no one else just shocked at his ineptitude after...I don't even know how many...say, 15 years of radio? Even if you are shit at something in terms of raw talent, you can, over time, develop the ability to perform at a more-than adequate level. What we see on display here is borderline-retarded inability to communicate or connect with the audience, surely the bread-and-butter of ANY radio host.
Opie is like a dog who lost its owner as he frantically realises he's on his lonesome here. He's just desperately trying to feign an entertaining "persona" (which is fucking painful in itself), whilst venting a quiet rage against those who weren't able to fill slots. When does one introspect and begin to wonder why they can't speak for a minute without relying on a guest who can just be funny on command, a sort of comedy crutch? Seemingly never for Opie.

I get why none of the staff left after Anthony got fired, it was definitely a risk and eventually would've been a disastrous move, but if the Jim and Sam show becomes a thing, the entire staff should definitely jump ship. I'd risk Morning Glances flaming out and being out of a job rather than work for this unbearable clod another day. God damn was that bad.
1 Mr702law 2016-09-08
Plus it's pretty obvious no matter what happens with Opie, Sam has a job at Sirius. They'd give him a show somewhere.
1 Hunter_Cumia 2016-09-08

3 BrillantPebbles 2016-09-08
Opie is Fez when Ron would go silent. He can't run the show by himself. <<Immediately goes to caller to derail the thread>>
3 Mr702law 2016-09-08
Op sums it up perfectly. The random singing was odd and he was freaking out. He says a few times that he of course can do radio by himself but you can tell he knows that's not true.
There was a gem on this ep though. Chris D talking about the redditors calling him. A liar. You could tell he was taking Reddit as if it was written by the New York Times. And then Ipies screams at him "WHY WOULD YOU EVER GO TO REDDIT"
3 [deleted] 2016-09-08
I made it 9 minutes. I just can't. He puts inflection on the completely wrong words and syllables. It's like he's an alien who doesn't understand what's going on and is just trying to fit in.
3 im_not 2016-09-08
This is far and away the worst radio Opie has ever done. And we're talking Opie here, who produces arguably the least engaging, laziest, most terrible radio ever. This isn't just a low in terms of radio, it's a Mariana Trench of shit even by Opie standards.

2 Knightscribe 2016-09-08
It breaks my heart to think of what sublime entertainment Opie would've been able to give us if only "his guys" hadn't dropped the ball. It was the comedians who didn't want to bother, and the driver who didn't "step on it," who fucked this broadcast up for us today, not the Ship-Steerer.
Worthless. He's absolutely worthless.

also what's the deal with sherrod? isn't he like an official part of the crew and he just doesn't show up? opie doesn't seem to really give a fuck about it which is odd, he's spent hours of show time bitching people out for being late before.

Honestly that's what fills me with the most visceral rage. I know his transgressions against comedy rank much higher, but it's the repetition of phrases shat out of his retard head in his retard voice that puts me beside myself the most.
You can just tell he's sort of going with what his faggot "mentors" like Wease - and whoever his comm professors were - told him: "repeat, repeat, repeat. that'll get it in their heads and make you rich". Only this dumb cunting nigger fuck forgot most of the lesson and just does it now out of laziness. And it makes me want to squeeze the blood out of his neck.

2 GRIZx 2016-09-08
There's no standards of Opie being funny, he never has been funny. It's the fact that he built his entire audience on hating bad radio with jocktober, then when his show implodes and ant is fired he himself can't even produce good radio with Jimmy. OPie blames it on bad "chemistry" but we all know it's his fault, he steamrolls and ignores chip and uncle Paul jokes. Now he's kissing the asses of former enemies of the show and fake laughing like a school girl over the likes of Wendy Williams. He is devoid of talent and has no business being on radio anymore.
2 ADoucheNamedBag 2016-09-08
