It's a TV show, not a movie, but have you ever seen Inside Amy Shumer?

If I upvote you it will just encourage others like you.

I've seen literally every horror movie that's worthwhile. I have atleast a terabyte and a half of horror movies. I'm burnt out on horror movies, nothing scares me anymore and it bums me the fuck out. The 2 movies that really stick out to me in the past ten years is the remake of Evil Dead and The Poughkeepsie Tapes.

Modern horror movies are all just jump scares with shitty plot lines. So many people loved It Follows and the Babadook, but they were just boring and predictable as fuck. I guess I'll just go back to being an old grumpy fuck that watches old 80's/90's horror flicks. I'll go back to watching Dario Argento and Lucio Fulci movies for the 100th time.

I liked VHS.

Shit I totally forgot about that movie! The first and the third VHS's were awesome!

I just remembered this movie Southbound It was really fucking good! I also totally forgot about Hobo With A Shotgun which is more of a grind house movie, but still amazing.

ABC's of death 1+2 was pretty good as well.

Have you seen A Serbian Film? Everybody always recommends that like it's so messed up, I was annoyed by it cuz it seemed to be trying too hard. And since we're just mentioning random movies now, Ichi the Killer is the shit. Those asians know how to make a truly demented movie.

Everyone blows up Ichi for Miike but do you have any love for As the Gods Will? Seriously fun movie I never hear anyone mention.

Never seen it.

Visitor Q rules

Seen that one. Felt like it was trying too hard with the absurdism but then I love stuff like Eraserhead, Eric Andre Show, so I dunno.

Shit haven't seen Southbound either but that looks pretty good. What did you like about VHS 1?

It reminded me of a modern day Creepshow, 3 different shorter movies all in one. The blood and guts special fx was top fucking notch.

Yeah fair call I guess that's what stopped me loving it: I wasn't into all the substories. If you think of any more let me know. Your recommendations have been good.

Same here

Yeah I don't really find horror movies scary anymore either. If we can go back 10 years I thought The Mist and Bedevilled were good (though not scary, admittedly, and TM is pretty sci-fi and BD is pretty much hard drama). I thought Babadook was OK, on point with most of the popular stuff like The Conjuring. I haven't actually seen the Pughkeepsie Tapes, so cheers I'll check it out today.

Th Poughkeepsie tapes is fucking phenomenal, I used to invite friends over and tell them it's a real documentary to fuck with them. People upload it on YouTube but every copy I've seen they speed up the audio to try to trick the copyright claims. Get a torrent of it.

The Mist was really good, the ending was such a bummer but I loved it anyway.

Have you watched Kill List? 2011 British film. Not jumpy but very fucked up thriller.

Iv seen a clip from that where a guy smashed some guys hand up with a hammer. Pretty graphic but iv never watched the whole film

That and the last ten minutes are the only parts worth watching

The Poughkeepsie Tapes

Nice to know my town stands out for something

Have you seen I Saw the Devil? Maniac with Elijah Wood was good, too

I saw the devil was great!

just watched 'the Burning'

it was kinda funny, had George from seinfeld

This sub is full of bad people.

i was just trying to give a recent(1980s) horror movie i saw, no need to group me in with the other meanies of this sub

That movie is great

Check out "Last Shift". It's actually pretty good and kinda scary at certain points. Check out /r/horror for more suggestions.

Sweet hadn't heard of this downloading it now. Man, I know imdb can suck but 5.7 rating is always a worry.

Where do DL shit, I haven't found anything when Kickasstorrents got shut down, been relying on my Kodi box for streaming the last few months.

I'm simple, I've basically been using piratebay exclusively for like the last 5 years or whatever.

I thought the same thing, but it's a pretty damn good mind fuck movie.

The Witch was pretty damn good. It doesn't have 'jump scares' but the atmosphere is what makes it so good.

Worth watching for Black Philip, he's quite a rambunctious young fellow.

The witch was overhyped garbage, it wasn't scary at all.

I couldn't get into it. Hated all the characters, especially the father, thought the pacing dragged and the ending was goofy.

I'm not a big Japanese horror guy but I Saw the Devil was very good

I think it's the koreans that make really good revenge films.

Edit: if you liked that, check out Old Boy (the original)

Yeah I didn't mind this one. Also Noriko's Dinner Table and Bedevilled are some good recentish Asian ones.

I subscribed to Shudder.com a few months ago and binge watched the fuck out of it. It's like Netflix but only horror movies. I really liked the French film Sheitan

Shudder is great because if you can't find something to watch they also have a 24/7 stream of their movies and you can jump into a random movie to see if you like it.

It's like Netflix but only horror movies

Oh shit, if I knew this existed I wouldn't have bothered with the thread. That's awesome, will have to get an account.

It Follows was pretty fucking good I thought.

Were you happy with the ending?

Happy enough. Lends itself to a potential sequel but is also sufficiently wrapped up if they decide not to.

I feel like I would have pulled out my phone and livestreamed it while slowly walking backwards until somebody noticed and figured out a way to protect me. Maybe live on the top floor of a skyscraper with really good security in the lobby. What's it going to fly a helicopter?

I came across a Japanese movie once on YouTube called "audition" it pretty fucked you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWVRXYsirc4

What's great about this one is that the monster is a handicapped person that they house in a potato sack and feed vomit from a dog-bowl, just like real life.

Has anyone seen Lights Out? James Wan has made more shitty movies than good ones, but I still like him as a director.

Hadn't heard of it. Looks like an awesome premise but it sucks they're doing the same old 'it's a dead person's essence being kept around by hatred' schtick to explain what could be just a cool monster movie. Thanks for the heads up, I'll download it as soon as a non-cam goes up.

yeah it was fucking gay

this year i saw The Conjuring 2 and Lights Out. Obviously both made me jump when i saw it in theaters which is why people go, but both genuinely sucked as movies just like every horror movie

Have you watched Kill List (2011)? It might be more thriller than horror but I fucking loved it and there's some genuinely disturbing shit in there. Everyone should see this that hasn't.

/Peckas

No, I'm familiar with it but it did sound a bit thrillerish so I never watched it. I'll have to give it a look.

Good recommendation. Watched it last night and liked it. The story arc reminded me a bit of Frailty, which is another decent one with an unconventional story.

Even though the first half hour and the male kid is a cringe fest, I thought the Visit was very good. but whatever you do, stay away from the Conjuring 2.

They filmed that movie in my hometown, right across from that house is a broken down bridge where I used to take my highschool girlfriend to fuck in the backseat.

I've found that the passenger seat reclined works best, humblebragger ;)

You should do a youtube series where you go around town showing clips from the movie and then giving your anecdotes. That could be the first episode. You could interview the girl and ask her if she liked the movie.

I think M. Night had an amazing premise with that one but the reveal could have been a bit more sinister for my liking.

Meh maybe it was a little cheesy looking back but in the theater at least I thought it was really effective. I just wish they didnt make the kid so cringeworthy. Seriously when he was doing that "Christina Aguilera!" thing and people were laughing I wanted to get up and punch the movie screen.

Baskin is on Netflix. It's a Turkish horror movie. It was kinda fucked up.

Neogiallo is fun.

Start with Amer then move on to The Strange Colour of Your Body's Tears

Berberian Sound Studio kind of qualifies too

That's really different. Actually really like the sound of the story for Berberian Sound Studio but I'll check out Amer today.

Not to be that guy, but I made a thread asking for horror movie suggestions a while back, and got some great results. Some of these movies were really disturbing. I recommend, if it's your thing.

Sweet. Horror movie marathon night for me. Going to treat myself to an extra xanax after I finish the weed.

Big doodies or sumthin'

Watch the Witch, interesting horror movie, if you can tolerate the old English dialogue.

It's sort of horror-related, Stranger Things on Netflix is great, but its more intriguing and cool because it looks like the 80s than scary.

The Witch is one of the best horror movies ever made imo.

Also check out Martyrs(original) and the first 3 [REC] movies

Haven't seen Martyrs but I like revenge films so it's on my watchlist. Wasn't into [REC] or The Witch, but if you like atmospheric stuff have you seen Shadow of the Vampire?

I have not. Martyrs is the best of the 3 I named btw.

And I've had it with vampires.

Tbh a Serbian film was a good horror. I can see not liking REC but The witch was great, reminded me of the shining a lot.

Dude REC was great, I havent seen The Witch but REC , even though it was in subtitles was possibly one of the best horror movies ever.

Is there a way we can watch it together online? Assuming you aren't gonna watch it with a chick?

The witch that is

I agree but the other guy sisd he didn't care for it. I get it because edits pov and shakey cam and some people can't grt over that.

Thanks again for the tipoffs yesterday. I'm sure you don't give a shit but I made it through a few:

  • Poughkeepsie Tapes: Good story, above average. Serial killer has been done plenty but this take on it, where they don't catch him and he's brilliant but they shoot it low-key like a doco, rather than going for Hanibal Lecter theatrics was nice for a change. Bad acting. Enjoyed this one quite a bit, better than the average horror movie.

  • Southbound. Much better production value than Poughkeepsie tapes but the story let me down ultimately. I like the idea of a passage of road for the condemned to suffer their fate but sometimes fate is dealt out by revenge murderers, sometimes skeleton ghosts. Seems like if the skeleton ghosts killed the two revenge killers they should have also killed the family man who did something to the revenge killers' daughter.

  • Last Shift: Fine premise, fine production value. Stupid plot. 9 million crazy things happen and she doesn't leave or call for help, she could have just said her building was infiltrated by someone with Sub-Saharan characteristics and 14 SWAT teams would have been there. There's demons all around, ghost cops with bullets in their head, even if she thinks she's crazy you'd get your shift reassigned and check yourself in to a psych ward. Just could not suspend disbelief. She was hot though, I wanted to see them titties. Also why do supernatural ghosts have to fuck with you for so long before they do anything? If they have the power to teleport behind you they have the power to kill you anytime they want. Man at dispatch: "Yeah to be honest we saw all this ghost shit too but I wasn't going to say anything to you until you kept bitching about it but you should probably get out of there" Woman cop: "I need to hang up this call so I can go look at spooky photos that the ghosts are taunting me with and also stay in the building". "Oh, a whole bunch of ghostly shit is happening but I get a call from my dead father telling me to stay in the ghost building? yeah, probably my dad not a ghost". Blueeuurgh.

  • Kill List. OK this was a bit different and kinda cool. Little bit artsy - this obviously takes place in a world without police - but the characters were interesting and I liked how there was no one character that was the moral compass. Might actually slightly prefer this to Poughkeepsie.

I've got to get onto that streaming service. Did you rip your movies from there or torrent?

I have not. Martyrs is the best of the 3 I named btw.

And I've had it with vampires.
