Deconstructing Opie's stammer

We all know Opie is retarded. However you can observe that his speech got worse over the years in the same way that his opinions did. It is a laid back, noncommittal way of speaking, like he doesn't even care enough to move his mouth. It's the same as when he's intentionally mispronouncing words or saying 'the' in front of things. I'm not saying his tongue ties are intentional, I'm saying it has a psychological background and also that I'm drunk and afraid to talk to the girls at this party.

Just like George W. Bush, who some believe to have suffered a stroke when he was hospitalized for "choking on a pretzel" about 12 years ago. Compare his 1990's speeches with his second term speeches. Dude had a stroke or sumptin.

He clearly has Alzheimer's now. Swinging his arms, dancing and smiling at a memorial for mass murder victims clearly shows he has no fucking clue what's happening anymore. When they got home, he probably got back into his Spiderman pj's and resumed dancing in front of the radio.

He's got something, for sure. Whether it's a case of the Ronnie Reagan's or not has yet to be seen.

He started off trying to speak cool but as time went on and he became more aware of his limitations as a broadcaster he realised this was his only strategy; he had no B-game and couldn't adapt. At this stage some anxiety crept in and 'cool talking Opie' began turning into 'Leave it along, too cool to talk' Opie. Downvoted.
