This is the first I'm seeing of this. I don't know how it's progressed since this episode, but I've never laughed harder at a TV show in my life. You can tell that corporate/studio executives had absolutely no part in making it. It just shows there's no rhyme or reason to deciding what's funny. Good for Adult Swim.
Have you ever seen Tim & Eric? This is pretty much a direct byproduct of it, a number of people that work on this worked on T&E including Eric(as in Eric from T&E) himself.
When I used to get high all the time in my 20s Tom Goes to the Mayor (and later T&E Awesome Show) were always my go-to things to watch. So fucking good. The stuff on "Awesome Show" is quite the mind-fuck after smoking a bowl.
And yes, Eric Andre is far and away the best thing on Adult Swim these days. That dude is a fucking nutcase.
The On Cinema/Decker universe is closest thing we will get to a modern day Kaufman performance. Hell Tim and Greg were able to get cameos in big budget movies, just for the sole purpose of tying it knot their show.
On Cinema is both a hilarious show and also a brilliant display of how to use the freedom of the internet to build story and characters. The way they've created a universe with the podcasts, social media posts, websites, Oscar specials, spin off shows, etc is really special.
On Cinema starts out as goofy(in a good way) and progresses into fucking dark hilarity with inside jokes. Start with the first episode and it just keeps getting better. Greg just wants to talk movies and Tim has his own thing going on.
I didn't appreciate how brilliant Tim and Eric was until I saw everyone ripping them off, they really did invent a style and that's rare. I'm gonna keep gushing like a bitch boy until someone shoots me in the mouth.
Check out their editor DJ Douggpound's Pound House series on YouTube (JASH). He invented that short, fast-cut editing style and it makes his shit hilarious.
Edit: I'm sure someone will say he didn't invent it, I don't care.
Lol youve never HEARD of Tim & Eric!!!??? They started off with Tom Goes To The Mayor which in my opinion is up there with Tim & Eric Awesome Show Great Job! but thats what theyre most known for. Not totally sure how to suggest the best way to get into it, but trust me youre in for a world of delight.
I thought this was the guy that posted the original thing, and was surprised they liked Eric Andre show but never heard of T&E...either way, if someones never heard of it they have a lot of great shit ahead of them to look forward to. Either way youre gay
huh? I said it was funny whether youre on drugs or not? Its funny completely sober, too. If anything if you havent had the life experience to have ever done drugs, its an opportunity to find out what its like to find something so absurdly funny without even having to do drugs. You should check it out if you havent, friend!
He gets arrested pretty regularly. He definitely has executives and a strong legal team backing him up, they're just smart enough to let him do his own thing. You have to remember that the guys running legal departments now were watching JackAss in their teens and they get it.
It's about time we get some younger corporate guys. The entire entertainment industry is suffering because those old fucks (I'll resist the urge to say Jews) won't just retire/die. Comedy Central would never make a show like this.
They definitely do. But they don't have the comedic talent, and they insist on shoehorning politics into everything. After South Park, they'll have nothing.
Did you see their new animated show coming out? It's so clearly an attempt at copying South Park's shotty animation style (looks like paper cut outs that snap into place rather then smoothly moving limbs and whatnot). South Park is going to be their lead-in, I can't articulate how badly I hope it bombs.
Legends of Chamberlain Heights. My TV's been muted every time the commercial came on so I haven't heard who voices it yet but it looks like a desperate knock off of South Park, visually.
It's closer to Tom Green than Jackass. Most Jackass stuff outside of the Bam Margera stuff taped a few years before Jackass (and Bam fathered Hudson) was closed set stunts. Tom was on the streets almost every stunt like Andre. Although Tom never got arrested. Either because he's a polite Canadian who talked his way out of it or because he's 100% white and not 50% white.
I watched it on acid a few times and that really quick edit intro where he destroys the set, every 3 second cut feels like 20 seconds of gut busting laughter.
They aired 90% of the Canadian show, just with new intros filmed in New York with Glen and Phil. Tom didn't do many new stunts until the final season (ie the Washington State swim, trying to buy a house from Indians, the pizza undercutter, pranking the media into thinking he was engaged to Monica Lewinsky, his nut cancer, ect.)
This was refreshing because I can't remember the last time I saw a piece of comedy that focused on being funny instead of tediously waxing philosophically about politics
The best stuff he does to guest is stuff the viewers don't even see. Like he said he makes the room as uncomfortably hot as they can. Then they do fucked up things like put rotten food under the guests chair so it stinks. And he said most of the interviews go for like an hour and they just widdle the best parts down for the show.
Lauren Conrad was the first guest to threaten to sue the show after he drew a swastika on his forehead and ate his spitup. She was gagging before she ran off the set.
That dance moms lady was a good sport. They had a popup ranch dispensary here in the LES promoting/for the show. Bummed i didn't go, they had like 15 different ranches and a ranch fountain haha
If you're a faggot who can't afford cable and care what a faggot who calls himself a Puerto Rican Rattlesnake says because that was the nickname of the spick who murdered his deadbeat dad, then yes.
The Eric Andre Show is the finest example of what alternative comedy should be.
I can't decide if my favorite on the street sketch was when he had a woman (his "girlfriend") come into a diner he's eating alone at to scream obscenities and fling fake shit at him for cheating; or, the fired Fruit Loops employee on the subway train with a gallon of milk, pouring it into his dog neck funnel that holds a ton of Fruit Loops while scared civilians look on.
Fuckin loved this show from season one. Don't have cable anymore. Thanks for the YouTube link, faggot.
5 - Check out On Cinema At the Cinema + Decker. They're slow paced with constant inside jokes but it pays off. Decker Unclassified is the funniest thing I've ever seen and should be way bigger than it is.

Pound House is really turning into something great, I hope they keep making it. Brent Weinbach is fantastic, I don't know why he's not more popular.

Yeah he's actually a decent actor and he's kind of a weirdo. He's perfect for that strange, dark style of sketch comedy.

Now that I think of it actually, that whole crew is pretty legit; Brendan Walsh, Douggpound, Brent, Duncan Trussell, Mikey Kampman, etc.

While Tim and Eric definitely have influence, I think Space Ghost Coast to Coast is basically its grandparent.

Been watching it since it came out. I'm pretty shocked it didn't get big sooner, everyone I show it to nearly shit their pants.
10 GRIZx 2016-08-20
I sorta don't want it to get bigger, the guests will know too much before actually getting on the show and ruin it.
4 bonniesretardsister 2016-08-20
Then he can marry Anne Hathaway and get pretend ball cancer as gags before releasing his flop movie Jamal Got Shanked.
