I'd like to refute the title of the video just to save these nice bloggers/reporters/servers of modern justice some time. Andrew was absolutely not a "friend" of the show. He was a poor homeless man that Gregg "Opie" Hughes convinced he was his friend only to do things like smash the beautiful cake, THAT HE EARNED, and make him do other demeaning stunts.
One day I recall, specifically, Andrew was in studio because he had some handmade gifts for the guys. He had spent his own money for the supplies to make the three of the O&A hosts wonderful name plates to sit near their mics. After Andrew confessed that he hadn't eaten since two days prior because he used his only money for these gifts (believing that Opie was truly his friend and it was worth going hungry to do a nice thing for him), Opie broke all three of the name plates into dozens of pieces and made Andrew eat the sharp, broken, plastic pieces that he had paid for. Opie threatened to strike Andrew in the face and throw him out of the XM building if he didn't comply.
Opie did give Andrew three dollars after he made him eat the plastic pieces that likely cut and infected his mouth though so he claimed "it's fine, we paid the guy".
Sparse testimonials of those who've seen Andrew since these years have said he doesn't look good and seems on the brink of death. He has reached out to Opie any way that he could, usually through fans, and Gregg "Opie" Hughes has made it clear that he wants nothing to do with this poor human being and "would rather he just lay in a gutter and die with the rats".
I know that is a chilling account to read but please bring it to light. Gregg Hughes is very diligent about shutting down real accusations by his fans. Some of you outside our circle may have better luck getting him to answer for his horrid actions of the last two and a half decades.
I never watched this before yet have heard opie sniff through explaining that they "paid the guy" and we're "friends" many times but the way they throw money on the ground and walk away after sloppy tits jumps on the cake makes me hate opie even more somehow
Poor Andrew, after Opie gave him all that money he went and scored some heroin from a guy named Stinks and overdosed. He was found dead three days later. Friends and family begged the guys not to give him large sums of money cuz he was in recovery, but after he was given hundreds of dollars by Gregg "Opie" Hughes he couldn't resist scoring some smack. He shot up the amount he used to, but due to his diminished tolerance, nodded out and stopped breathing. His death is on Opie's hands.
