Depp came out on top of this no matter what way they want to spin it. The guy is worth $350 million dollars and she only walks away with $7 million? They can say all that bullshit about taxes and fee's whittling down Depp's worth but but he's not going to run out of money anytime soon and $7 million damn sure isn't half of everything. He pays her $7 million and he'll be making $50 million per movie just to dress up like a pirate and "act" drunk for the rest of his career.
I laughed when she said that money was going to charity. The only charity that $7 million is going to is her bank account. $7 million is a lot of money, but not a lot when you think she essentially ended her career in an effort to try and smear one of the biggest movie stars in the world.
He didn't earn that $350 million during their marriage. You're not automatically entitled to half of everything someone has just because you marry them.
She was expecting more. Under CA no fault law, without a pre-nup, Amber was entitled to seek half of their combined earnings gained during their marriage. Depp made at least 30 million in 2015 (Forbes article). So she could be getting 15 million. She also demanded 50K per month spousal support, coverage of her lawyers' fee, LA condos, etc.
To avoid going to court battle, she accepted just 7 million. After all the brouhaha, Amber got much less than a normal divorce would have gotten her
