You guys notice whenever he starts talking sports with someone who can talk way over his head, like Bill Burr or Nick DiPaolo, he will either immediately agree with their opinion, or he will faux challenge them by saying "ya think?" and then he agrees with their response. I wouldn't be annoyed at all if he just said "I don't know some of this stuff" or anything of the sort, but he puts on like he's a sports guy when the guys who actually pay attention are in and the knowledge gap is so obvious. Ant and Jim either just stay out of it or ask questions.

I know he does this regularly but here is one example that I just heard

It's not just sports, it's any subject where he is in too deep. Which is all of them, other than real housewives or Kaitlin Jenner trivia.

Another thing he does is if they are naming athletes for some kind of comparison, he just repeats the name someone puts out in a flabbergasted tone like, "KLAY THOMPSON!?" And then whoever's in the room has to explain why he would be an obvious inclusion when naming good 3 point shooters in the nba. And then Opie would agree with them like "alright, alright you won me over." What a fucking dunce.

Whenever it goes beyond "I'm a big fan of the Islanders" it becomes "man, I gotta check out the Islanders again. I tapped out for a minute." Just admit that you watch the playoffs and don't know who is on the team before then.

I actually do the exact same thing when talking sports. Out of the 1000s of things I hate about Opie this is one I am guilty of myself.
