8) Opie only gets the hate he does because he brings it on himself, when Ron tells BS stories we know its BS and we feel like we're in on it. Opie tells BS stories and believes his own BS.

9) We all know Ron's faults, and Ron knows Ron's faults. That's the bit. Opie has spent 10+ years try to copy this.

10) Look at the numbers, Ron has a number of regular friends and guests that call in and actually like him. Nobody likes Opie. Opie has Barry Williams and I'm not sure he likes him.

I know people like to say Ron is never the butt of the joke, but I guess those people never listened to Ron and Fez on WNEW. Fez was the sniper there and Ron often took shots from Fez implying they were gay lovers.

I do think Ron is a bit cranky, and he doesn't like to be disagreed with, but if you have balls, he actually does come around to enjoying being disagreed with.

Lately, that Dan kid comes in, and due to his autism disagrees with Ron on different topics and seems unaware that Ron gets annoyed. But when he keeps firm to his point of view, you can hear Ron lighten up. I think he wants someone who will stand up to him, but people get easily intimidated.

I hate to praise Opie, but he is not bad at #1 & #2. He's horrible at #4. That's why Anthony was a great partner for Opie. His strengths and weaknesses were the exact opposite of Opies.

Ron is funny. Ron commands and deserves respect for being a consistent and strong radio personality for almost thirty years. Ron has always had an overall good and entertaining product. Ron is not self-obsessed like Ms. Hughes.

Ron did a whole show on his own once and it was fuckin great (the black earl goes to hospital one).. At the end he said it was the easiest 3 hours he's ever done.. Just imagine Opie doing that..

That's one of my favorite R&F shows ever.

People here listen to R&F and instinctively compare it to O&A; I think that's what keeps them from truly enjoying it for what it is. It's a completely different show with a slower, more laid-back vibe - not so much about who can come up with the quickest insults. Also, Fez and Pepper are both fairly rotund men, so who do you expect to bust balls about Ronnie's weight in that studio?

Ive never listened to much Ron & Fez but from what Ive heard Ron seems to be a competent broadcaster with at least a shred of an ability to be funny so that puts him leagues above Opie.

1) Thats true and kinda annoying, but thats the radio persona hes established. Also, he has no problem telling embarrassing stories about himself.

2) He argues with his staff and callers constantly, also he doesnt get defensive if someone disagrees with him. Also he will admit hes wrong immediately if someone talks him around.

3) 'you look at me like that again and ill take out your eye with my fucking thumb' is playing, Ron doesnt pretend he is a tough guy.

1. He used to send callers into the Big Ass Prize Closet when they'd call in and prove him wrong. He knows he doesn't know everything.

When the Phillies were in the World Series, the callers would bust his balls all the time, and it eventually evolved into a bit until the Phillies won.
