You guys know how Opie always puts "the" before things? Here's a NOpie clip of everyone trashing people who do that, skip to 3:39:10

I hadnt listened to a Nopie in a while. Its shocking how much happier and carefree the show is. Its so much quicker and funner. It really is shocking. If you listened to any Opie and Jim show and then followed it up with this, it'd be an incredible contrast.

Ant always sounded giddy with excitement when he was opening a nopie show

You should give "The Morning Jam with Jim and Sam" a try if you're looking for carefree radio.

As in no one cares about those fucks?

You are aware "The Morning Jam with Jim and Sam" is the name of the O&A show when both Opie and Anthony were out, right? As in it was co-hosted by Jimmy and Sam Roberts?

carefree, free of anyone caring of them. it was a strech

Opie was annoying me in almost every segment I tried listening to on YT so I've been re-listening to the Nopie shows the last few days. They're so much better that I'm surprised Opie didn't just get forced out at some point.

He kissed management's ass too much and they value "brand names." Fez hardly even spoke on radio for something like 5 or 6 years and was a mental and physical wreck but they still shelled out a few million to him.

"Ron and Fez, that name has got some value to it!"

{never listen to the show, pay East Side Dave and Pepper Hicks 28,000 a year in Manhattan to co-host}

The brand name is the only thing that could possibly be keeping him in the job

Yeah, good point. Opie & Anthony was fairly well known as an entity, probably only rivaled by Stern.

If by "rivaled" you meant "dwarfed immensely"

"they always want to try the divide and conquer"

-Opie paranoia

Think about all the times he's said that, then think about all the times he said "Oh no, Ant really wanted to go his own way." as he got the channel's name changed to his Twitter handle.

On a show filled with awful men, he is the most awful man.

The fan base naturally realized Opie was the weak link in the trio and booed him during appearances as early as 2003.

Any funny examples we can revel in?

Ant AND Jim would sound so happy. I always noticed how euphoric the mood in the studio at the end of a NOpie should would be. Multiple times I remember people talking about what a great day/show it had been. I've never heard that with Opie there. I can't imagine how frustrating it had to be for everyone to be absolutely burdened with shitty Opie based solely on the fact that he started an awful incarnation of the show 15-20 years prior.

As much as I love the NOpie shows, they almost depress me now. Just thinking of what could have been if shitty Gregg had died in 2004. Hours and hours of high quality conversation without that nothing barreling over everyone. It also annoys me to put myself in the shoes of the others on the show. Just gritting their teeth as that shitty, talentless, burden comes in, and realizing things will never be as a good as they could be because of him. It had to be so frustrating.

Speaking of Opie dying in 04, can you imagine like 04-07ish. Shitty Opie gone and pre daily screaming sessions about evil blacks from Ant. The only thing that was better after 2007 was Jim became less and less of a bitter cringe comic who was trying too hard to be shocking and more of the Silly Jimmy that I think is one of funniest people on the planet.

I was looking for some NOpie shows the other day but couldn't find any so I figured they were deleted. Is there a playlist still out there?

There is. I won't link it because I'm a fag.

If you type Nopie in YouTube there will be a playlist. My personal favorite is Vos Live From Hiroshima featuring Colin Quinn

Thanks queer

The difference in atmosphere is like haldol and meth, it really is two different shows

We'd all be with you if we knew what haldol was.

Oh another novelty account, those are always funny

Don't turn your embarrassed anger toward me you cock sucker.

Pot, meet kettle.

They couldn't be more obviously referencing Opie unless they literally said "Fuck Gregg 'Opie' Hughes" which I'm sure probably happened after the mics went off anyway

Oh and I just learned from the clip Opie wasn't even original enough to start doing that on his own, he even stole that from someone funnier than him.

I was never a big fan of Opie.

It's cool when he says "a little _____ action" though, right?

Whether or not other people do it, it's a lame verbal crutch.
