Wait a second, was yesteday's show actually good?

Jimmy was enthusiastic and present in the room and had some absolutely perfect, laugh out loud lines.

Opie was confident and, I swear, actually (mostly) funny and charming.

Brennan was laugh out loud funny and filled the studio with an unpredictable, on-the-edge tension that has been missing for years.

*A funny, likeable and listenable intern segment? And an entertaining impromptu segment with that guy from Bar Rescue? What the fuck was going on?

Even that guy from some metal band wasn't completely terrible.

What the fuck did I listen to?

So has the show actually changed to Opie and Jim? Seems odd that they would do it now with October coming unless Opie is desperate to do anything to keep Jimmy. Maybe Opie knows their might be a chance the show would be canned.

No.

Yeah, I thought I was the only one that thought it was really good. Seemed to have a good conversational flow between the four of them. Lenny does bring out the best in Brennan. It felt like an already existing show rather than Opie and Jimmy trying to work together while also trying to figure out how to play to whomever the comic of the day is.

You're right! (And I should have mentioned Lenny, who played a hilarious straight man)

It sounded like a fully formed show that could roll with anything and actually be fucking funny.

Even when they got into politics, which is usually a fucking black hole for the show, OPIE OF ALL PEOPLE was actually fucking funny.

And when Opie said to Jim "Do you want to get some coffee?" It was like there was genuine camaraderie in place of seething tension.

It was weird to be engaged with the show for 3 hours that were actually funny, interesting and entertaining.

I didn't listen to any of it but I'm going to confidently say no.
