I'm a stoner and enjoy the fact that no one really knows about it. When the cartoon symptoms of pot use start showing e.g. half open glazed eyes, prattling on about nothing particular interesting, etc., I would consider quitting. But he's made a good career of it. He's just one of those whose audience, like Tucker Max's, is almost entirely borderline retarded.
That special was a let down the only funny part was Doug finding the people in the hotel and crashing the party. Doug is not stand up funny and in 2016 the pot head image is nothing shocking. He has become a regular jack off like the rest of us.
He was in a couple old episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm when he was a bit skinnier and didn't look like nearly as much of a loser. Although he did have a lazy eye in it which was funny. It's the one where Larry somehow offends the family at a wake and Doug Benson is the dead guy's nephew or something and flips out on Larry.
