Advance praise for Based on a True Story

“Norm is brilliant and thoughtful and there is sensitivity and creative insight in his observations and stories . . . A lot of comics over the years have been compared to Mark Twain but I think Norm is the only one who actually matches the guy in terms of his voice and ability . . . I seriously f**king love Norm Macdonald. Please buy his book. He probably needs the cash. He’s really bad with money.”—Louis C.K.

“Norm is one of my all-time favorites, and this book was such a great read I forgot how lonely I was for a while.”—Amy Schumer

“I always thought Normie’s stand-up was the funniest thing there was. But this book gives it a run for its money.”—Adam Sandler

“Norm is one of the greatest stand-up comics who’s ever worked—a totally original voice. His sense of the ridiculous and his use of juxtaposition in his writing make him a comic’s comic. We all love Norm.”—Roseanne Barr

“Norm Macdonald makes me laugh my ass off. Who is funnier than Norm Macdonald? Nobody.”—Judd Apatow

“Norm Macdonald is more than a triple threat. He’s a septuple threat. He is smart, funny, wry, rakish, polite, rakish . . . no, wait. He is polite, insightful and . . . aaaaah . . . warm. No. He’s exciting. Yeah. Exciting! You never know what he’ll do. OK, then make that unpredictable. Add that up. He’s amazing.”—Alec Baldwin

“Norm only has to grunt to make me laugh. And this book is 300 pages? Sign me up.”—Sophia Amoruso, author of #GIRLBOSS

“Norm is a double threat. His material and timing are both top-notch, which is unheard of. He is one of my favorites, both on and off stage.”—Dave Attell

“David Letterman said it best. There is no one funnier than Norm Macdonald.”—Rob Schneider

Jim Norton read part of the book but then stopped to read a biography of another MMA guy that he's read before

Jim didn't want to be influenced for his stand up act

I'm genuinely very excited to read this book. Norm has been working on it for like 10 years. He's such a lazy prick but I love him.

All those quotes reminded me of a SNL Norm story. Rolling Stone used to do a feature with all the cast where they would basically suck each other's dicks and call everyone talented, and what did Norm say when he was asked about his co-worker Chris Kattan?

He said ""I don't know, but he seems gay to me. He claims he's not, but I've never seen, like, a guy who's not gay seem so gay. I don't find him funny. What can I say? Never made me laugh.""

Breuer tells a fantastic story about Norm and Kattan

That hyperbolic douche bag Breuer can't be trusted. I downloaded that episode after listening to this a while back and their shoulders weren't heaving up and down from laughter.

Who the fuck fact checks a joke?

They got Rob Schneider to read letterman's blurb. Interesting tactic, let's see if it pays off

Well if this book has comedy legend Sophia Amoruso's seal of approval, then I'm definitely going to buy it now!

Norm was always one of my favorite people in show business. Dirty Work was a way a bunch of my buddies in college all recognized we had the same sense of humor. His spots on Conan are some of the best bits from late night talk shows. He seems like a really odd dude but I love him.

One of these are not like the other

Yeah what the hell is girl boss in there for? Pretty psyched for this book though.

"Sign me up." It's a book, you cunt.

"He stinks and I don't like him" - Surly truck driver

oh fuck off, louis

Quit being a nigger. He's intentionally doing that.

Was he doing a bit when he did the same thing for Johnny Knoxville?

I have to agree with him when he did: I never saw any of the Jackass stuff prior to a day when my dad bought it on PPV and we were hanging out with my mom out of town. It was hysterical.

The point I'm making is he does this all the time. He would call Seinfeld a Maestro, so it just seems more likely that he's doing the dumb thing he always does rather than suddenly pivoting it to a bit for a book cover.

Oh, well, I was specifically referring to the part where he said that Norm MacDonald is like Mark Twain. I think that's him being silly.

It's not so silly that I can't see where he's coming from, he's probably saying how Mark Twain hated "five dollar words" and always strived to boil everything down as simply as he could which is similar enough to Norm that I have to believe it's a compliment expressed pretentiously.

Norm has said he read all his books and letters while interviewed by that crazy lady Darian OToole.

Are you implying that man is a dope for not seeing that's the bit?

Of course. He's a real jerk!

I love how Amy managed to bring it back to talking about herself in a fucking book review. What a self obsessed big.

What a self obsessed big.

Great movie

Sorry, I meant to say self obsessed big cunt.

thank you Sophia Amoruso .... for making BigAmy look like a moderately amusing cunt

Baldwins was funny.

I have zero doubt that Norm's book will be excellent. Even his twitter feed is great.

Please tell me there'll be an audio book.

There will be, but it will be voiced by Sherrod Small

The cover reminds me of this Richard Feynman book, and a few other of his books. Very similar style.

Here's another one

Let's just say that with MacDonald, comedy is the norm.

Ugh...

Why would you even want Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider's praise?

adam sandler is worth like 400 million dollars

That doesnt mean he doesnt consistently lower the bar for making the worst movie of all time.

Retards need something to watch too, you know! Ever tried fingering a down's girl during a Werner Herzog movie? Fucking impossible!

Play with your brothers cock and balls, my neighbours dog has a 4 inch clit, now shove that shampoo bottle up my ass, toll booth willy.

Lets not get it twisted Sandler has made us all laugh are balls off at some point.
