FDA Announcement Reveals Joe Rogan is a Snake Oil Salesman
47 2016-07-06 by 867-5309-
Joe Rogan, an actor who guest starred on a 2002 episode of Just Shoot Me!, a podcast host and "comedian" also fashions himself a health & nutrition expert. However today's FDA announcement Warning Against Whole Body Cryotherapy, Finds No Proof It Really Works is just more proof that Joe Rogan is nothing more than a snake oil salesman pushing fake elixirs on his audience which do nothing more than help grow the number of zeroes in Rogan's bank account.
In a world where one cannot call Big Amy a joke thief without suffering the backlash of an unstable coke head who looks like Nosferatu, take pride in the fact that we can still call Joe Rogan what he is: Snake Oil Salesman.

Say what you want but Alpha Brain is legit brothaman, Rogan said so.

Don't you mean "dolla dolla bills y'all"?
4 lickitoff 2016-07-06
Downvote me into oblivion if you want but guys like Wim Hof are proving how beneficial cold can be for the body.
Don't call me a fan of Rogan though. I only listen when someone interesting is on....then of course, I get mad as fuck when Rogan has to school THEM on their area of expertise.
7 lickitoff 2016-07-06
...also, since fucking when do we pretend that the FDA is the source of anything truthful?
5 JesusLesnar 2016-07-06
Since when do we trust HGH head on anything?
1 rottenseed 2016-07-06
What then, pray tell, is the FDA conspiring for or against?
Edit: as always go to the nih...where the science happens (or doesn't in this case).

I don't think Rogan is a fraud though. I think he sincerely believes stupid shit.
He's like a woman in the sense that if he emotionally wants something to be true, he'll believe it, which is why he always tweets shit like "Scientists discover that cavemen may have been the first to synthesise LSD!". (Even after terror events like Paris or Orlando, you could go to his Twitter and that's ALL he'd be talking about. Way to be relevant Joe.)
He believes things he likes the sound of/the idea of. He likes the idea that cryotherapy heals you, or that the plant ingredients in Onnit have special effects, so he believes it and spreads it.
4 jarjarjelly 2016-07-06
Joe is a harmless doofus. He's sincere about his nonsense and most of the shit he espouses he has used on his own body.
Call him a fool, but he is not a fraud. If you fall for this stuff you're as stupid as he is.

That's a good excuse if he ain't making bank with his snake oil
-1 blackirishlad 2016-07-06
well so much of the shit he says and reads about absolutely bears no financial fruit for him. he definitely just finds it interesting and loves the ideas. he gravitates towards those subjects and ignores all other sources.
1 late_50s_why 2016-07-06
Isn't it all the same category? Butter coffee, warrior jerky, gorilla bell, use the codeword joe420 at check out
He had been saying pocket pussy light the best invention ever, the second they dropped him he don't even mention it ever again
2 Sks44 2016-07-06
He's not dumb. I had a teacher once call it the "curse of the autodidact". He believes everything he reads. It's laudable that he reads so much but he just seeks out stuff he's interested in from viewpoints he agrees with.
1 Sin_Researcher 2016-07-06
Is it surprising, the little guy believes Bigfoot is real and the moon-landing was fake.
28 google_is_useful 2016-07-06
joe rogan literally drinks his own piss. did you really need the FDA to confirm he's a fucking retard?
26 chipperjonesing 2016-07-06
Does he have any financial investment in cryo chambers? Or is it just some shit he talks about alot because he thinks it makes him feel better? And that FDA warning you linked is meaningless. It basically says you have to wait for the government to tell you whether something is good or bad. At this time, the government doesn't know whether it's good or bad, so you've now been warned that the government doesn't know. That's all it says. It's basically a CYA memo that says don't sue us if cryo is horseshit because we don't know whether it's good or bad.
5 867-5309- 2016-07-06
Based on his history of recommending/pushing various elixirs on his audience that eventually are revealed to be made by companies which he has significant financial investment; whenever Rogan pushes a new product or service really hard to try to create a buzz about it, I'm skeptical -- Especially when, in most cases, the product or service Rogan is evangelizing is scientifically unproven. Joe's own questionable actions created this skepticism, not wild speculation.
6 soulstonedomg 2016-07-06
And the government still says eat sugar instead of fat. Who ya gonna believe...

One of the funniest examples of this is how Rogan used to always talk about Steven Pinker and he said a few times he was going to get him on the podcast, one of Rogan's fans asked Pinker on twitter why he hadn't done it yet and he revealed that all communication with Rogan had ceased when he presented him with evidence that his fake supplements didn't actually work.
28 truthie 2016-07-06
Yeah that's a real knee-slapper.

Funnily enough I just checked his account and Steven Pinker doesn't respond to anyone on Twitter about anything, you just made that shitty story up.
-7 TheDarkFezRises 2016-07-06
Nope. It was posted in JoRogan2 before it got shut down.
15 beavvv 2016-07-06
I wasted 10 mins looking for it, he never responds to anybody on twitter, it's just retweets and links to articles. There's also no evidence of his response anywhere else online. It never happened.

4 867-5309- 2016-07-06
In addition to avoiding eating 5lbs of
placeboOnnit daily, according to the FDA you would be wise to avoid spending hundreds of dollars weekly to get naked in a -130 degree chamber because a guy who is a midget in 34 States says how well it works for him...15 Lyle_Chippers0n 2016-07-06
Sounds like the FDA is full of plebs who can't afford the Total Primate Care package if you ask me.

The FDA has not made public comment on the Dollar Shave Club. However I question the legitimacy of any company that would allow him to promote their product.
2 soulstonedomg 2016-07-06
Allow him? Fuck, they pay him. You gotta advertise where the people are.
4 Dennyislife 2016-07-06
Pretty sure the rube Jim Norton did this
2 867-5309- 2016-07-06
Yes, Jimmy did cryotherapy based on the advice of Joe Rogan.
4 beavvv 2016-07-06
Just took a look around the Onnit website, Alpha Brain has Vit B6, amino acids, green tea extracts etc. New Mood is St Johns Wort, Vit B6, niacin and amino acids. Shroom Tech is Vit B12, green tea leaf and chromium. Other than that they sell kettlebells and crap like coconut oil and coffee beans.
I get that people hate Rogan, but as far as supplements go the Onnit shit is no different than what you'll find in any health store, not sure why people get so butthurt about it.
4 fingerrockets 2016-07-06
I think this guy is just but hurt because Rogan probably reminds him of someone who used to beat him up or of someone who was banging the boy he had a crush on.
-2 867-5309- 2016-07-06
Rogan made countless false claims about his elixirs and said they claims were supported by clinical studies [they weren't]. And also this: https://www.reddit.com/r/JoeRogan/comments/1xxopd/here_are_the_results_from_the_alpha_brain/

3 TheScarletR 2016-07-06
I'm not defending Rogan but as far as I know, he doesn't recommend cryotherapy to anyone. He started doing it because well known athletes were doing it and claimed it helped them. I think he's fully aware that his listeners don't have the money for that shit.
6 867-5309- 2016-07-06
There aren't many more vocal and prominent evangelists of cryotherapy than Joe Rogan.
1 TheScarletR 2016-07-06
I haven't listened in a while so you're probably right. He was never above recommending float tanks to his listeners from his buddies company at 6-8grand a pop, now that I think of it.
1 dassabessdoe 2016-07-06
Why does he recommend cryotherapy? I know that athletes take ice water baths after heavy workouts to help their muscles heal faster, is it the same kinda thing?
3 Thelonius16 2016-07-06
It wouldn't really shock me if he was claiming actual snake oil gave you a great body high.

1 McGobs 2016-07-06
It's the same with vitamins. Look on every bottle of vitamins. FDA does not approve. Talk to your doctor about taking vitamins--especially if you're pregnant, they say definitely take them--and they will say no harm, it may help, but you can get vitamins and minerals elsewhere, which is very different from "vitamins don't work."
I don't think I've ever heard Joe Rogan say it cures any of the ailments that the FDA says the WBC doesn't cure. He's only said it helps him train and he feels great and energized after it.
The typically only says whether a drugs claims are valid for particular ailments. They may also exercise is not a cure for a lot of things. That doesn't mean you shouldn't exercise.
1 Deans1234 2016-07-06
I've never bough an Onnit product but I'm fairly certain Rogan doesn't sell cryotherapy. He just talks about it.
