Wow I give Anthony way too much credit. This is the kind of shit I assumed he occasionally read up on in his free time. They all sound pretty fucking dumb in this.
I thought the same thing. Ant's politics are a bit wacky but usually has a pretty good understanding of history and some scientific stuff. What's really upsetting about this clip is in a room of high school dropouts, one being a raging alcoholic and the other a degenerate sex addict, the guy with a college education has the lowest understanding of basic scientific history. I know they're just radio guys but holy shit its not like finding out how-and why we're more advanced than other creatures is hard to find.
Yeah I forgot Opester was college-educated, good point. To add to what you said, the clip is from 2013 which, similar to now, basic facts about evolution are sort of a common thing that people know; things like humans being closely related to apes and people having never existed with Dinosaurs, etc.
One of the greatest clips (hopefully someone can find it) is Opie trying to explain the theory of evolution and human origins. Opie seemed to be under the impression that ancient hominids simultaneously evolved sentience and into modern man. He even went on to say, "So I don't get it.. why did the Hughes family and the Cumia family all of a sudden wake up one day and become humans?" This idiot doesn't understand genetic bottle-necking and the interrelation between human groups.
There is too much nonsense to even comment on fully. Just a few things I found noteworthy:
Jim is under the impression that the K-T extinction event wiped out all lifeforms on the planet and that Humans had to "re-evolve" from some sort of primordial goo again.
Opie perplexed about how radically different humans are to other species. Has he never heard of the ancient myriad of hominids that are now extinct? Great apes who are sometimes able to understand language and abstract concepts? Parrots, dolphins, monkeys, whales, etc.. that have comparatively advanced brains? We've seen tool use, social hierarchy, and even animals using other animals (along the lines of primitive domestication)
Opie thinks Dinosaurs died 2 million years ago, room seems to initially agree.
Curiosity surrounding the size of Dinosaurs, despite the fact that the largest animals to ever exist are currently extant, with us right now. Not to mention there were some terrestrial mammals that reached dinosaur-esque sizes, like the Wooly Mammoth and Paraceratherium.
Panspermia - directed or otherwise - is as plausible scenario for the emergence of life on Earth as any theory. Abiogenesis is kinda nutty when you think about it but like Shaw in Prometheus the next question is 'who made them'.
I can't listen to Opie so I assume he hasn't converted to Mormonism and was talking about that, right?

Heres another one where they show their ignorance of biology but this is from 05. Starts at 1:38:55 and goes for like 10 min or so http://www.opieandanthonylive.com//media/opieandanthony/2005/04/2005%2004-20%20Opie%20&%20Anthony.mp3
