Holy shit I've never listened to these before and I just started with the XFM series 2 (as recommended) and I'm fucking dying laughing at the atomic manhole cover story. "He was talking about how powerful the atomic bomb was, and to prove it.. they put a manhole cover on top of it..."

It's sweet that you're just discovering these now. Keep a look out for the tension between Karl and Steve. It's subtly ever-present and they go back and forth a bit.

The Karl vs Steve moments were some of the best. Steve had like 5% of Opie in him with dishing it out but not being able to take it, so hearing Karl shit on his looks every now and then while Ricky cackled was always cathartic.

Karl and Steve both get great snipes at each other back and forth, and Ricky just sits there and stirs the shit between them. Classic. Steve is hilarious but totally can't take that uneducated Karl can one up him in all the arguments, it definitely builds over the length of the series too. I can't even pick a favorite moment from the series, there is way too much to quote.

I used a ripped all the Karls diaries collected on youtube too, those are amazing.

I like how as the series went on, Steve and Gervais got more and more irritated with the monkey news because he'd never bring in an actual amazing monkey story, but only stories like a "lil' hairy fella" robbing a bank.

And he'd always set up the story without mentioning that the lil hairy fella was a monkey so there'd be a big reveal at the end. Like we didn't know it was going to be a monkey.

Haha, eventually Ricky was pissed at him right at the start and was asking if the story ended with a little hairy fella and Karl was like "well..." and Ricky went ballistic.

Ive listened to these countless times. Any fan of comedy will starve for more of these guys once they've gone through the library of podcasts. Be sure to check out the ricky gervais show (a different podcast of 5 seasons) and the "ricky gervais guide to..." also. Karl did an AMA a few days ago. He's still wonderfully stupid.

I miss this Ricky Gervais. Watching him slowly turn into a self righteous unfunny douche was painful. I tapped out at the 2nd season of Extras. He was insufferable even then.

Believe it or not, there's a worse case than Gervais. His name is Graham Linehan. He had a hand in legendary shows in the UK, like Father Ted, and The IT Crowd as well as other hit shows, but those two are considered among the all time greats.

Then, he got a Twitter account, and undid it all, showing himself to be one of those Male Feminist Social Justice Warriors. Now, god knows how many people have said "I can't even watch it anymore, because of just how much of a cunt he is".

At least Gervais has the excuse of becoming an A-List celebrity surrounded by yes men, Linehan has a flagging career, surrounded himself with feminists and SJWs, and became even more insufferable.

Linehan is genuinely the biggest cunt on earth. It's his sheer relentlessness that makes him worse than anyone.

Especially when he's so dogmatic in his political views, he'll even defend a self confessed paedophile, whilst talking shit about paedos he decides are "Right wing".

Yes because they were originally just old recordings from a radio show nobody was interested in. Then the podcasts happened and audible (or whoever) bought up the rights to the XFM shows and went on the heavy offensive with getting them taken down everywhere they could (despite never releasing them for sale in any form other than a couple of shitty best of compilations). I was just concerned OP's efforts with the archive might have been jeopardized if they were still being all litigious, but it sounds like interest has died down now.
