Holy shit I've never listened to these before and I just started with the XFM series 2 (as recommended) and I'm fucking dying laughing at the atomic manhole cover story. "He was talking about how powerful the atomic bomb was, and to prove it.. they put a manhole cover on top of it..."
I can't laugh at anything less than an execution video anymore but this is great. Thank you b-b-boys.
It's sweet that you're just discovering these now. Keep a look out for the tension between Karl and Steve. It's subtly ever-present and they go back and forth a bit.
The Karl vs Steve moments were some of the best. Steve had like 5% of Opie in him with dishing it out but not being able to take it, so hearing Karl shit on his looks every now and then while Ricky cackled was always cathartic.
"Could you see Steve on an album cover, Karl?" "I'd put him in the distance..."
There is a Karl Vs. Steve supercut. I have the audio, but if it's not in the archives, that's a YouTube link.
Karl and Steve both get great snipes at each other back and forth, and Ricky just sits there and stirs the shit between them. Classic. Steve is hilarious but totally can't take that uneducated Karl can one up him in all the arguments, it definitely builds over the length of the series too. I can't even pick a favorite moment from the series, there is way too much to quote.
I used a ripped all the Karls diaries collected on youtube too, those are amazing.
I like how as the series went on, Steve and Gervais got more and more irritated with the monkey news because he'd never bring in an actual amazing monkey story, but only stories like a "lil' hairy fella" robbing a bank.
And he'd always set up the story without mentioning that the lil hairy fella was a monkey so there'd be a big reveal at the end. Like we didn't know it was going to be a monkey.
Haha, eventually Ricky was pissed at him right at the start and was asking if the story ended with a little hairy fella and Karl was like "well..." and Ricky went ballistic.
You fuckers deserve the best, thankks for this. The site looks fucking awesome and works well to!
Btw you can even play the content on Android without having to keep the tab visible, aka you can background play it! Chrome doesn't even have to be open. You made a better website than most Apps can offer.
I was listening to one of the shows as i was going for a piss. I'd got my cock out at the moment of the "man moth?" bit and nearly flooded the house. I love Karl
Thats series 2 episode 1 i think, the greatest hour of that show ever. Right after that was the atomic bomb manhole cover story which is also hilarious
You're a saint for this. EducAting Ricky is awesome. Karl telling stories that clearly are just some urban legend and Ricky's frustration with how gullible he is is just amazing.
"The greatest body of comedy recorded on audio" - the World's Smallest Man, Leaning on an Apple
"The greatest trio since the Goodies" - Steve "Alright ladies, what can I get you to drink? What, you think I'm made of money? I meant half a mild or summat" Merchant
"It's alright, innit?" - Karl "Ooh I'm stressed, if it's too hard I don't wanna do it" Pilkington
"Absolute shambles on a tin-pot radio station with a chimp for a producer. Play a record." - Ricky "Ya cheeky little devil" Gervais
Ive listened to these countless times. Any fan of comedy will starve for more of these guys once they've gone through the library of podcasts. Be sure to check out the ricky gervais show (a different podcast of 5 seasons) and the "ricky gervais guide to..." also. Karl did an AMA a few days ago. He's still wonderfully stupid.
I miss this Ricky Gervais. Watching him slowly turn into a self righteous unfunny douche was painful. I tapped out at the 2nd season of Extras. He was insufferable even then.
Believe it or not, there's a worse case than Gervais. His name is Graham Linehan. He had a hand in legendary shows in the UK, like Father Ted, and The IT Crowd as well as other hit shows, but those two are considered among the all time greats.
Then, he got a Twitter account, and undid it all, showing himself to be one of those Male Feminist Social Justice Warriors. Now, god knows how many people have said "I can't even watch it anymore, because of just how much of a cunt he is".
At least Gervais has the excuse of becoming an A-List celebrity surrounded by yes men, Linehan has a flagging career, surrounded himself with feminists and SJWs, and became even more insufferable.
Especially when he's so dogmatic in his political views, he'll even defend a self confessed paedophile, whilst talking shit about paedos he decides are "Right wing".
Although, it is pretty funny seeing him trying to schmooze Colin Quinn and, more often than not, getting ignored, so he's just settled for sticking his nose firmly up Andy Kindler's ass.
Just imagine if he hadn't have gotten a Twitter account, he'd have been the guy who wrote these amazing shows, instead of the guy who picks fights on the internet and made to look stupid.
He cried about Piers Morgan being racist because Morgan, after Linehan picked a fight with him, asked him if he was drunk. And that's a racist statement because Linehan is Irish.
You mentioned that you were concerned about OP's posts in regards to copywright violations. I stated that I also do something similar to OP and they don't give a fuck.
No legal trouble with these? When the XFM shows were monetised they pretty much immediately tried to shut down Pilkipedia (no huge loss, I know) for providing links to them.
This would've been a few years ago now, maybe they've just stopped bothering. I guess if YouTube's full of them you're probably ok. Keep up the good work! Any other stuff planned to go up?
Yes maybe 3 new show archives going up soon, tough crowd, and tons of new features including zip downloads for everything and clip tagging, also live streaming with a chat room
Yes because they were originally just old recordings from a radio show nobody was interested in. Then the podcasts happened and audible (or whoever) bought up the rights to the XFM shows and went on the heavy offensive with getting them taken down everywhere they could (despite never releasing them for sale in any form other than a couple of shitty best of compilations). I was just concerned OP's efforts with the archive might have been jeopardized if they were still being all litigious, but it sounds like interest has died down now.

Sameses. It's O&A stuff or Gervais, Lurch and Brett stuff and nothing else.
I deserve to be alone.
2 thesynking 2016-06-04
You should listen to The Big 3 Podcast. Only other show I'd put up there with Ricky Gervais/O&A.

If you have any doubts go YouTube "monkey news" and watch ten minutes. Fucking hysterical.

Karl did an AMA yesterday. It was alrite but everyone knows what questions to ask these days.
1 WiretapStudios 2016-06-04
I'm definitely not checking it out, the AMA's are a pun and circle jerk borefest unless it goes down in flames like Woody Harrelson.

the absolute condemnation in SM voice drips like a bloodied knife.

XFM has changed into Radio X or something like that. Wonder if they are as bothered as a 10 year old radio show now?
