A lot of people play guitar, there are a lot of talented people. Prince is definitely a unique artist (I don't like his shit but that's not the subject) with a lot of talent. That said he is not anywhere close to being the the best guitarist in the world, or america, or even in rock and pop.

You're getting downvoted but I agree. Prince was an 80s pop guy who somehow convinced an audience that he was a 'great artist.' I don't hear it. Yes he was a good guitar player, he played tons of shows, we've seen the clip of him playing some runs on 'Gently Weeps.' Whatever. Not that impressed. By the way the worst thing about that clip is George Harrison's son up there onstage playing along with the big boys, an awful entitled out of place piece of shit that kid is. C'mon guys, this is a place of hate. Let's remember that.

Not joking. I think he kind of sucks actually, not in terms of his skill (which i have not witnessed to be something noteworthy or in the running for best ever) but his songs are tacky to me. Still, even beyond his style, I think his technical skill is over-rated.
