Hardcore history is informative and entertaining. The host knows how to keep it interesting. Other than that I mostly listen to stanhope's and a couple video game ones.
If there is something going off in Stanhope's life its the best podcast. His friends deaths and fallout from that and the recent bingo split leading to her in the nuthouse are gold
I listened to The Last Podcast on the Left last night, an episode about BTK. It was pretty good. I don't listen to many podcasts or internet shows besides TGMS. People will shit on Gavin all day here, but his show is pretty damn good.
You're the Colin Quinn of serial killers. "Let me guess, he's gonna fuck the dead bodies and, y'know, eat em after? Like that hasn't been done before bites knuckle."
He was a fucking loser, too. When he broke in and accosted the family he'd always say "I got a sexual problem", then commence tying them up. Like, why tell them? Just let them find out. He's such a boring guy, but I find him to be an interesting serial killer because of it. I liked Edmund Kemper more, he seems to be more fascinating. Any serial killer recommendations?
Yeah, I can't relate cuz he's a faggot. I think Ramirez was a hack, actually. He was mostly killing old people, I can't respect that, plus he really hammed it up when he was caught, with the satanic BS and what not. Bundy is the go to answer and seems cliche, but he was really gettin it in. Plus he broke out of prison. Pretty impressive.
Speck was pretty good, him doing gay porn in prison was hilarious. Danny Rolling was interesting too, posing the bodies and whatnot. He made some good music, check it out on youtube. Mystery Rider is the name of one of the songs.
A great duo was Charles Ng and Leonard Lake. They were truly sadistic, plus Lake went out like a boss with the cyanaide. The whole sex slave thing and recording stuff is enthralling
We truly are. I also liked Richard Kuklinski, but he was a known liar. Still, he could spin a good yarn. The book Iceman: Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer is a great read if you come at it from a fictional POV.
I mean, he made Kuklinski mad once in the interview, I guess I really meant just that one scene. Come to think of it, I doubt it's any accomplishment, but it was an intriguing scene.
Anyway, Kuklinski was a complete liar. He said in the book I mentioned that he killed Jimmy Hoffa with an icepick or screwdriver and that he was one of the hitmen in the Paul Castellano murder. Other mob guys have refuted what he's said time and time again.
There's a part in the book where he claims to have come across a trucker raping a kid and killed the guy, then another part where he found out a weed dealer was keeping kids in his basement, so he killed him and set them free. Pretty far fetched stories where he tries to paint himself as some sort of hero. The whole Mr. Softee thing seems ludicrous as well. If you watch the Iceman movie it's completely ridiculous, and in the book he says he kills Mr. Softee (Robeet Prongay) cuz the guy was gonna poison a neighborhoods water to kill a target.
For the last like, 4 years Ive thought things like that sounded interesting, and I download them and try to listen and end up turning them off after 10 seconds and expose myself to a child.
Oh man do i fucking hate Radiolab. My brother tried to get me into it and I wanted to strangle those NPR wannabe douches. I'm 100% with you; they're all pontificating douches who sound like shitty college radio.
Let's be honest. You can say the same blanket statement thing about comedy podcasts and sports podcasts and any other genre out there.
It's too easy to publish horseshit. The over-saturation is such that you have to wade through rivers of shit to find something even half listenable. They should raise the price of microphones to $1,000+ just to keep them out of the hands of eighth grade YouTubers and geriatric hobbyists.
Anything by Stuff You Should Know and Stuff You Missed in History Class are the worst especially since everybody recommends them. The best review I've ever heard for both of them is two dullards reading wikipedia articles live on the air, with the former podcast basically being John and Jeff and the latter basically being two holes going "Oh you guys" to history.
im jealous you got to know patrice on a personal level. Do you have any memorable interactions with him worth sharing with us people who wish he wasn't dead? I listened to him every day for at least 3 years.
After a Black Phillip show we went to a Brazilian steakhouse. It was me, Erock, Von, few other people. There was this gorgeous waitress that caught Patrice's eye. When she came by to rattle off info, Patrice just stared at her in the eyes with that grin of his. She finishes, and without breaking eye contact with her, he jerks his neck toward Von and just goes, "Wouldja?".

You don't care about Chad Shank getting high on Acid/MDMA hybrids and building sheds?

That's what he thought, he said prison guards weren't giving him his meds IIRC. He has three HBO docs BTW, the one with Park Dietz is the best IMO.

I think they're all on youtube. Dietz gets into what makes him tick more than the other docs, which were more just about his crimes.

Chip Kuklinski would be a great character. Maybe Jimmy can do a cartoon on it....?

The Space Show is a great, little hidden gem. More of a radio program than podcast tho.
