I know a lot of self-depreciation is thrown around here. "Durr, we obsess over a dead radio show! We're the REAL losers!"
But guess who just beat the paramedic mission on grand theft auto vice city? And before you laugh or whatever, keep in mind that shit was HARD... if you fail to save one person then you have to start over from level 1.
Put in probably 30 hours this weekend and I had a blast with it. Definitely worth the 40 bucks. Bastion and Junkrat need a bit of a rebalance because I think the way that they're played is counterintuitive to Blizzard's design philosophy of "easy to play, hard to master". Hopefully ranked play won't allow you to make a team of duplicate characters with 3 Junkrats and 2 Bastions on a king of the hill map because my own mudda could spam unlimited grenades on a site all day. A better system for determining the play of the game would be nice as well. Too often it's just a cheesy no-skill ultimate which might have had a huge impact on the course of the match, but is also very underwhelming in terms of player skill or exciting gameplay. The way the overtime system works is brilliant for creating high-tension clutch moments and I hope it does well enough to warrant a few character/map expansions.
I like that a company with as much gravitas as Blizzard is bucking the F2P model and letting me buy their game and then unlock the cosmetic and customization options by actually playing it, instead of those convoluted systems where you convert your actual money to in-game currencies with the fucked up pricing intended to force you into overpaying (ie: 10 bucks gets you 5750 OverTokens and skins/spraypaints cost 6000).
I feel like at family dinners when they ask me to say something because I've been very quiet. I've got nothing. If I had something I would've said it by now. And by the way the only reason you're asking me is because you've also ran out of ideas. So don't try to pin this on me grandma, you fucking say something if you wanna talk!
