If you think Paul Mooney is looney, listen to Dick Gregory talk about how goverment spewed chemtrails and malt liquor with special chemicals are the real reason Black people are aggressive.
Is it the one where he's at the Laugh Factory and makes a white couple walk out? His pacing and jokes are very weird. He has some one liners, followed by race monologue, followed by some bit; in different orders sometimes.
I liked some of his jokes, but the organization was terrible.
Really? I've only seen clips of that special, and they were good from what I remember. Although now that I think of it, I can't really remember any of the material. I just know that what I saw wasn't terrible. Maybe the whole package is bad. I don't know. I may check that out when I get a chance.
Don't remember which one it was on I watched all of his specials but it was a while ago. I'm pretty sure that's the one called "Jesus is Black and So is Cleoptra" or something like that. I mean he wrote for Pryor so it's pretty hard to not at the very least respect him. I wasn't insinuating that I don't like him or that's his only good joke but that is one of my favorite standup jokes of all time.
However talented he was, Mooney was always an insecure diva. The fact that he hides behind race makes it very difficult to take a lot of his militant comedy seriously. He's done it as much to cover his ass as to do social commentary. He's much more Amy Schumer than Richard Pryor. And yeah, I know he wrote for Pryor. But the key if you want to have lasting respect as a comedian is to be able to turn jokes back on yourself. That's something Mooney wouldn't do.

He has one joke that I really really like and it's something like "Gas is so expensive in LA that there haven't been any drive-bys."

That's pretty funny. I like Mooney a lot, but one of his specials was very odd. The one I was talking about earlier at the laugh factory.

Mooney nearly cried when Dr Phil cucked him on n-word hypocrite issue.
