I think the worm turned when, during an Apatow/Dunham press conference for "Girls", some dude asked why she was naked so much on the show. She tried shaming the dude just for asking the question, then Apatow tried shaming the dude, too.
They're trying to make it where if you even suggest these fatties cover up, you're essentially a rapist. A fat, disgusting, talentless woman's' rights-rapist.
We're going down an incredibly bizarre road: pop stars who can't sing or play an instrument, fat "models", female "comedians", buxom dimwits with their own Raqio channels, etc.
Oh, shit. I was thinking about this story last week but couldn't remember the name. Thanks.
I think thing are blowing past this, though, into some bizarro reality. I think the ultimate goal isn't "everything's equal, even when it isn't", but to make the ugly and untalented better than the merely beautiful. As long as you're ugly and untalented their way.
Fashion gay dudes got tired of playing with skinny dolls so now thwy want super big dolls? Feminists gets on board clueless they are being led around like a pack of dogs. Media is a beautiful thing, that's what I say
First, they got off on torturing the models with their Auschwitz-esque weight requirements. Now they're getting off on torturing the rest of us by subjecting us to "buffet chic".
I cant wait for the day an actual model panels with one of these tubby "champions" on a talk show, and tubby starts in with the hack "I don't know how you do it (stay so thin)!" routine, and the model completely levels her with a flat, genuine "Have you tried eating less?".
I'm just thinking as a semi fat dude on the path to loosing a few, it's just not healthy being overweight and it shouldn't be fucking celebrated. I don't support the fatpeoplehate gang but I don't support this horseshit either. If a guy did this it would be considered a joke, the same feminist cunts would laugh it up.
The first chubby male comedian who goes there, maybe does a shot-for-shot "homage" to Big Amy's Vanity Fair spread, will be simultaneously crucified and lauded as a hero.
Patrice never celebrated his fat. He would say stuff like "I'm a 40 old, black, diabetic motherfucker (or something like that)". He knew he was going to soon "be oil".
A lot of places want to be in a 'post' whatever world because we're headed that way; post race, post gender, post beauty whatever. But they have this dumb way of trying for it by trying to over represent or alternatively represent things that would be outside of an old norm and the new standard. I dont think any of these people are smart enough to do it for various reasons and they're actually disrupting themselves because they're just moving a line instead of erasing it.
You dont need anyone to tell you what to think of her, you already think it and the thing you're against isn't a quantity of beauty being too stringent it's the value judgment existing in the first place. Female comics, by in large, used to have to be ugly. Amy's self deprecating act is not entirely removed from that concept. Calling Amy beautiful as an agenda point now does not resolve the issue that people have trouble swallowing comedy from confident women.

It's a cheap way to sell magazines. The magazines are selling their readers a fantasy.
