Since O&A used to talk about the media bias concerning race, here's the first news article I've ever seen where the perpetrator is actually described as "black". I hope the reporter won't be fired for saying that.

"Boy, man in his 20s who was apparently targeted in shooting expected to survive"

Dude. Just because the sub-heading says "Boy" doesn't mean he's black!

They won't, they always mention race in Ontario crimes when they're looking for a suspect. I don't remember the last time I saw a black person in Oshawa that wasn't picking apples on a farm, it actually narrows down the suspects a lot, and I don't think people would have cared if they just wrote nigger since he shot a kid.

Presumably this is because race is a less contentious issue in Canada. In the UK our papers talk about race openly.

Except when it concerns Muslims. Then they bury the story or just pretend it never happened.

Exactly. Muslim rape/grooming gangs exist. There ARE places of major cities like Birmingham where cops dont linger.

Nope, lots of Muslim bashing in the press here, so much so that a recent University of Cambridge study suggests the press is contributing to rising Islamophobia.

Yup. They dont even need to plan or discuss it. Its a core liberal belief (fact to them). They just instinctively know not to bring attention to black crime because they know the excuse "theyre oppressed" doesnt fly with everyone

Toronto... damn... thats like Eskimo San Franciso. This writer might have a talking to from the "diversity consultant"

in Toronto and Canada in general race is a big issue. same problem as you guys as well .... people assume because of in-equality of outcome it guarantees either systemic racism or a racist conspiracy .... if blacks are not statistically the same as whites : it is the fault solely of the whites .... in Canada we make policy based on equality of outcome not equality of opportunity like america used to
