A list of Joe DeRosa's opinions on movies and television
18 2016-04-18 by JMueller2012
Thinks Batman vs Superman is the best version of Batman ever.
Hates The Sopranos.
Can't finish the move 'Happiness' because Phillip Seymour Hoffman cums while talking to a chick on the phone. Is 'disgusted' by it and most of Todd Solondz work.
Hates the movie 'Drive' because it takes "All the likability away from Albert Brooks". Yes, you heard that right, he hates a movie because an actor did his job really well.
Hates Terminator 2, for unspecified reasons.
Thinks Kingpin is the "Greatest comedy of all time" I love Kingpin and think it's one of the most underrated comedies ever, but 'all time'?
Enjoys Sex & The City.
Thought The Nightmare on Elm Street remake was amazing.
Thinks Mary Steenburgen is the hottest woman alive.
Thinks Fargo is the worst Coen Brothers movie.
Thinks the Star Wars prequels are just as good as the originals.
Halloween 2 is better than the original (John Carpenter).
My Blue Heaven is a wonderful movie.
Hellraiser 2 is the greatest horror film of all time.
Hates Dumb & Dumber.
Sided with Jada Pinkett and the whole Oscar's controversy. I'd love to hear what he says privately when it comes full circle and he's losing guest work to inferior minorities.
Thinks The Watch (2012) was a great comedy.

those are all really stupid things if he really said them and you arent twisting something.
8 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
I'm not. I listen to his podcast where he and his writer friend Patrick Walsh sit and discuss horror movies and it's a fun listen. I don't hate Joe because he has some opinions I agree with too (like Aliens is a fun movie, but it ruined the first one because it desensitizes you to the Aliens) but the ones I don't infuriate me
4 sanfrancisco69er 2016-04-18
yeah ive never hated joe but just about all of those are pretty retarded
2 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
And it's annoying how he has some opinions that he says just to try to sound nuanced and introspective and then you listen to him talk about his love for fantasy horror and you realize he's just a boy surrounded by men
2 xxmikekxx 2016-04-18
I agree that he likes Faith No More & Mike Patton but that's probably it. Judging from what I'm reading he must have a thing where he likes to be the guy with the "different" opinion cuz it makes him more interesting.
I don't know the conversation where he said "Fargo" is the worst Coen Brothers movie but that doesn't seem possible. Because of you look at all the elements of Fargo, the Coens have a movie that is more focused on each of the elements. So if you don't like the comedy they have movies that are all comedy. If you don't like the artsy-ness of it they have movies that are more artsy. It just makes no sense
1 TrackSuitVos 2016-04-18
I don't like the new format. It's not as fun.
0 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
Neither do I. It's hack. Talking about the seven deadly sins? Boooooooooo
Hopefully they were serious with this new episode talking about just picking a classic movie or new movie to discuss
10 xxmikekxx 2016-04-18
Most important one - he hates Monty Python. Thinks they stink. It amazes me that with his horrible YouTube videos he has the balls to say that Monty Python stinks
1 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
Thank you. Feel free to help me out people if you can think of any that he's said on O&A
1 AngeloMacon 2016-04-18
Ant and Jim hate Monty Python too. Opie supposedly love them back in the day, and yet, could never contribute to those discussions other than the dead parrot skit.
1 xxmikekxx 2016-04-18
Actually, & someone needs to find the thread, someone posted a YouTube clip of Opie, edited together, saying how he always hated Monty Python and then another clip of him saying Monty Python is the greatest
8 aftershave 2016-04-18
He's like that black guy who got briefly booted from Rotten Tomatoes for trolling by having the exact opposite opinion against the aggregate. Almond White was his name.
I think the final straw was him giving a rotten rating to a 100% Fresh Pixar film with 130 positive reviews.
3 aprosbro 2016-04-18
Almond White, ha.

2 aftershave 2016-04-18
Oh yeah, Armond. Here's a list of some of his bullshit. http://www.pajiba.com/seriously_random_lists/compiling-armond-whites-greatest-contrarian-hits-2007-2011.php
He even managed to pick a fight with Roger Ebert, whose cancer probably got more aggressive as a result.
1 CelticSabbath 2016-04-18
He's right on a lot of those overhyped movies and the Pixar shit.
1 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
What a douche
7 KingGeorgeIVE 2016-04-18
Mary Steenburgen is a babe tho.
1 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
She's hot for her age. But hottest woman alive???
5 RearNakedGrope 2016-04-18
He hates Terminator 2? WTF? That's the only Terminator movie anybody even remembers. I didn't even know it was the second movie when I saw it as a kid, nobody really even acknowledges the first one. Not that it's a bad movie, it's just that the second one was what made the franchise possible. Anybody got a clip of him talking ahout it?
14 bizzlbone 2016-04-18
first movie is iconic dude are you kidding?
3 RearNakedGrope 2016-04-18
Not as much as the second.
3 bizzlbone 2016-04-18
"I'll be back"
3 bizzlbone 2016-04-18
also "Come with me if you want to live" and "Uzi 9mm"
1 CIAshill18081990 2016-04-18
"Phase plasma rifle in a 40 watt range"
"Hey, only what you see pal"
1 bornrevolution 2016-04-18
T2 is the best sci-fi sequel ever made but it's exactly on par with the first one.
1 bizzlbone 2016-04-18
does Empire not count as sci-fi?
1 CelticSabbath 2016-04-18
T2 is barely sci-fi.
2 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
He's never gone into it in detail just says things like it doesn't hold up and it's vastly overrated
4 FreddyWellzz 2016-04-18
Wow, thanks for the great info.
8 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
You're welcome. I'll go back to hating myself in the shower

4 andiswearrrr 2016-04-18
Can't hate someone for their opinion, but stuff like "Fargo is the worst Coen Brothers movie" sounds attention seeking.
1 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
You're right. I don't hate him necessarily because he's allowed to think these, I just don't get how you can watch Fargo and not laugh. Especially if you enjoy the Big Lebowski like he says he does.
He says Ladykillers is funnier than Fargo. That's absurd
3 NumeroOtto 2016-04-18
i disagree with joe .... and therefore he must suffer all the most horrific tragedies in the world .... him and only him .... contrarian cunt
3 almondshakers 2016-04-18
he should be shot
3 Flamgirlant 2016-04-18
I always loved hearing someone try to defend shitty opinions like these on O&A.
3 RahnBayngtin 2016-04-18
Hes said plenty of times he considers Faith No More his favorite band. So he gets points from me for that
4 NoirMagieGateau 2016-04-18
He also said Mr. Bungle were his least favorite band and that Peeping Tom and General Patton were amazeballs and better than anything else ever. I hate Joe Derosa.
1 languishinvagaries 2016-04-18
derosa has no jaw to carry stress in
1 NoirMagieGateau 2016-04-18
Anth feels strongly about violence.
1 languishinvagaries 2016-04-18
vurry good. anthony clearly believes love is a fist.

Clumps of hair In the sink Who's hiding Things from me? - The Opester
1 Slette 2016-04-18
I upvoted, because it's the right thing to do.
3 Jackthejew 2016-04-18
He also said he hates schindlers list because "it misrepresents the kikes as some sort of victim"
2 TheSean85 2016-04-18
The 'Happiness' one annoys me the most.
4 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
Especially for a comedian. Happiness is the greatest dark comedy of all time
3 TheSean85 2016-04-18
100% agree. If he stopped watching at the PSH jerk off scene... he didn't see aftermath of the Dad raping his sons friend. Fucking hilarious.
1 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
I don't get being a comedian and not having an appreciation for Happiness. Nothing like that would EVER get made today
1 countfrightenstein 2016-04-18
Yeah but he's barely a comedian.
0 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
He's a good comedian, his opinions make me unhealthily angry
2 Jarvismcjigglesteins 2016-04-18
His YouTube skits were really good though.
2 itsrainingthings 2016-04-18
He first test-ran these Unique Opinions on O&A. An example I can remember is early SNL sucked/Belushi sucked/Farley was much funnier than Belushi. I actually mostly agree about Belushi/Farley, but it just became weird that Joe started coming in seemingly just to lay out more new Opinions every time. I remember Ant saying something like "what is this, cinema appreciation hour?" because there really was no attempt at jokes, just Joe finessing his Opinions. I mostly like Shoulderless, I just think he should make peace with being an utterly trashable guy and should angle for the Adam Eget spot if Norm ever brings back his podcast
1 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
I don't hate him for those unique opinions because they have great moments and discussions for the show
2 Ott_Paper 2016-04-18
Hellraiser 2 is fucking great.
2 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
I only liked the first one. Too gimmicky after that. Like an episode of Yu-Gi-Oh!
1 Ott_Paper 2016-04-18
The 2nd Hellraiser is shocking in the fact its a rushed out sequel of the same quality. It introduced new elements and didn't waste time explain the stuff the audience already knew like most horror sequels. Its really good. Don't waste your time passed the first two though .. fucking god it gets really bad really quick.
1 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
I guess I'm just putting my personal taste as everyone's. But I hate the Hellraiser franchise. I don't like Sci-Fi horror. And the first one has some very good effects but it gets too weird for me
1 Ott_Paper 2016-04-18
If you watch alot of horror you'll appreciate it more. Most horror sequel are pure dogshit. Most horror movies are shit already.
2 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
Fair enough
1 bizzlbone 2016-04-18
Didn't he hate Spaceballs too or was that just Ant?
2 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
Nope, just Anthony
9 bizzlbone 2016-04-18
Oh, Ant has some shitty opinions too. Jimmy might be the worst tho, doesn't like anything that came out after 1980.
5 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
That's everyone on the show besides Opie who's only seen the movies 'Up in the Air', 'Ice Age 2:The Meltdown', and 'Raising Helen'
2 bizzlbone 2016-04-18
Patrice always had the best taste
5 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
He also thought Battlefield LA was going to be a great movie. I hated his taste in movies
1 bizzlbone 2016-04-18
Let's not forget what that Battlefield LA talk led to. Also he put me onto Vice Squad which is a great movie.
1 americanmook 2016-04-18
You mean Battle: Los Angeles? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle:_Los_Angeles
I love this movie I watch it so many times.
1 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
Yes, I hate my phone
2 BloodyfuckinKingalux 2016-04-18
Jimmy loved Crash, which is infuriating
1 bizzlbone 2016-04-18
I've honestly never seen it but I heard it's good. Then again that might have been from Jim.
5 TheSean85 2016-04-18
It sucks. Don't bother. It's like Short Cuts and Magnolia... only much shitter. So IMO... if you liked those films you'll probably hate Crash. If you didn't like those you'll probably hate Crash. Nobody should like Crash.
1 bizzlbone 2016-04-18
Haven't seen either but I've heard of Magnolia. I like Boogie Nights which is the same director so I might watch it someday but I'm not gonna make an effort any time soon since apparently it's shitty.
1 TheSean85 2016-04-18
Magnolia is good. PT Anderson is a legend. One of the best living directors, I think. Short Cuts is OK. Supposed to be one of the great films by one of the great directors (Altman).. found it a bit underwhelming. All these three films have in common is a large cast and interweaving story-lines. Magnolia is by far the best. Tom Cruise, John C Reilly, William H Macy, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Julianne Moore are all very good in it.
1 bizzlbone 2016-04-18
What other movies has Anderson made? I've heard he's supposed to be some iconic director but all I've seen is Boogie Nights (which I love)
1 TheSean85 2016-04-18
Punch Drunk Love, The Master, Inherent Vice, There Will Be Blood (that's right up there with Boogie Nights). He writes, directs and produces all his movies. That pretty rare these days.
1 bizzlbone 2016-04-18
There Will Be Blood was him? I've been meaning to see that movie for so long, now I have an excuse.
1 TheSean85 2016-04-18
Sure was. Adapted from 'Oil!', a novel from the 1920's. The film was well received by critics. Daniel Day Lewis won the Oscar. It probably isn't everyone's cup of tea. But it is mine. I think it's the best movie this side of the year 2000.
1 plasticpaddy84 2016-04-18
Halloween 2 was surprisingly good
7 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
Yes, it's a very competent sequel for a horror movie, but better than the first? The first one is a fucking masterpiece
1 plasticpaddy84 2016-04-18
Definitely not as good as 1. The order I saw them in was 1, 4 then 2...so I was just surprised 2 was at all good.
1 JimmysLostFat 2016-04-18
No it wasn't
1 SteakSauce66 2016-04-18
I do like My Blue Heaven. But his thoughts on horror should see him castrated. Fucking nothing.
2 JMueller2012 2016-04-18
I think it's Martin's worst movie. It's just odd

Completely unrelated, but the Wachowski brothers are both trannies now for whatever reason.
-1 sukotsuto 2016-04-18
This actually makes me like him more. Not because of his taste (which is awful), but on how people will react to all this.
