There was a frat bro and a white trash long island paisan that had a radio show where comedians come on to hang out and talk about whatever. The frat bro tried to direct the conversation by bringing up topics that would be of interest to soccer moms, while the guinea would randomly go into racist rants that started getting longer and more annoying as time went on. During all this some hilarious comedians would say funny shit when they were able. After a while the network decided to drop wario because he was bad for business.

This sub isn't really about any of that, though. It's more about destroying lives and making each other laugh these days.

This is a fascinating social experiment.

If you type in "Opie & Anthony [insert your favorite comics here]" you're bound to find something really good. Once O and A were forced to separate they exposed all their biggest weaknesses. Were all jaded to Tits (Opie) to the point that he can retroactively ruin shit. But since you're not onto his chronic lying, speech impediments, general idiocy and over sensitivity it shouldn't bother you at all. There are a lot of things to hate about Anthony as well but it shouldn't really affect your O&A listening so it's fine. Same with Jim Norton, though I and a lot of people still think he is/was great.

I did some summary here but I've been too busy lately to keep compiling.

Long story short: O&A was a radio show that featured some amazing and funny comics who hung out at the Comedy Cellar in NYC like Patrice O'Neal, Colin Quinn, Bill Burr, and co-host Jim Norton. From around the late 90s to 2014, it was a semi-popular show among young male demos and had a couple of spikes in popularity that I discuss in further detail in the first post on that tumblr blog.

Over the July 4th weekend in 2014, Anthony, co-host, was fired for going on a twitter tirade about what he characterized as an assault on him in the early morning hours by an african american woman who Anthony was apparently photographing or was in an area he was photographing. He said what was characterized by the company that broadcast O&A, Sirius XM, some racist and aggressive stuff about the woman who allegedly attacked him and other members of her race.

Fast forward to today and Anthony is in rehab trying to dodge a domestic violence charge. He allegedly beat up the daughter, Dani Brand, of a prominent comedy club owner in the NYC area. Opie and Jimmy's show is like soccer mom radio now. Opie is referred to as Tits here pretty often and cried on air when Anthony called him out late last year.

The former ardent fans of the show have turned on all of the principles like Opie, Anthony and Jimmy. Patrice is dead. Otto, another prominent NY area comic who was a frequent guest on the show, is dead. Greg Giraldo is dead. The band on Cellar comics kind of fell apart when Patrice died and Louis CK and Bill Burr made it big in tv.
