Why doesn't someone contact U2 about Brother Joe's racism, he shouldn't be able to put their brand into disrepute. Maybe then Reverend Al could get involved

Oh good idea let me just call Bono

you've got his number?

Yeah he gives it out at concerts, in between pontifications on world peace.

you should call him and let him know all about Brother Joe's shenanigans. He's probably really busy so if he doesn't pick up I think if you leave a message you'll be able to get your point across.

Dude that's a great idea, you're super smart.

yay I think you're smart too but not as smart as me.

I would just go with a tweet.

I'd actually love to see U2's manager contact Brother Joe and give him an earful.

We need to get Reverend Al posting here.

I brought it up before but the fact that Joe is in a band named "White Hendrix" (An artist who's family/heads of estate are ultra-picky when it comes to music liscencing [they refused to let any music he wrote go to the Andre 3000 movie he spent almost a decade preparing for to play Hendrix, even learning to play a right handed guitar backwards like Hendrix did. They could only recreate versions of cover songs Jimi did]). Im sure Jimi's family would be ecstatic about a white supremacist making a living off of performing their meal ticket's music without permission.

In fact, Im sure Joe would not find a Cease and Desist at his home at all. Nope, not a chance.

What I meant was he learned how to string a right handed guitar backwards and play it with his left hand, he could have just spent money on a lefty but because the movie was about a pre-fame Hendrix who was by all accounts broke and could not afford a lefty, it was part of him delving into the character.

I deleted my comment cuz i realized i didn't want to get into this but i guess i was too late.

No he changed it to 'Phat Hendrix'. And then 'Gimme Hendrix', so he's good, right?

Jimi Schmendrick Experience

It's a murky area of copyright law, but U2 probably actually has no actual authority to stop 2U.

They don't need mechanical licenses for the songs, since they aren't recording and releasing them, and serious performance venues almost always obtain one-size-fits-all performance licenses from ASCAP, BMI etc. They might be able to do something about them using the U2 "image," but even that is probably covered under fair use.

U2 is at that level of famous where they won't see anything until it's filtered through 3 or 4 people. And Reverend Al would just support Joe because he's one of his people.

or, just pass it on to his labels/producers PR department. They likely care more than the band does
