Thanks, I have a few friends addicted to Xanax. Bars are going to be way harder to kick than the booze, you can't just stop taking bars, you have to taper off them, or you'll seize up and die.
Both Booze and benzos can kill if you go cold turkey. The faster acting benzos like Xanax are especially hard to quit because it's hard to taper effectively. If you have to take a benzo, go for something like ativan or valium that comes on slower and wears off slower.
It's really common in rehab to see alcoholics who are also addicted to benzos. It's quite dangerous but a lot of them are addicted to both, especially when they have hard to control anxiety problems.
It's pretty obvious he planned it this way. Anthony is not the kind of person who likes being the focus of uncomfortable, potentially pissy eyed moments, and that's what a live goodbye to everyone on yesterday's show would have been.
