It seems to have a lot to do with ability to deliver dialogue. That show is 100% dialogue driven. Jimmy can't deliver long stretches of dialogue without looking like a twitchy little retard. Unless it's a character piece and that is what CK is looking for, the worm is not able to offer anything to the show.

Even weirder is he casted Mark Normand. Metzger and DiPaulo are at least decent actors but as funny as Normand is, he might actually be a worse actor than Jim. Obv there not the same person and Louis might not have needed a menopausal type male character but I still found it odd.

You see, he says that name really, really, REALLY doesn't bother him and he repeatedly posts responses like that then declares himself victorious over reddit. One would think that if it didn't bother him, he wouldn't need to say anything at all.

Jim's characters are really half-baked ideas he came up with on the fly and never really developed them into something great. Compare Chip with Ricky Gervais' David Brent. It's money in the bank because it's fleshed out and deliberate. There's probably 800 pages of solid writing to back it up. Jimmy never made an effort to flesh out his characters in a serious way. They are all in-jokes and you have to be plugged into the O&A universe to even know why it's remotely funny. Just look at his cartoon. He's not a storyteller.

The Office and David Brent are universally funny. Don't need to be a fan to understand it.

So in conclusion, Chip cartoon sucks not only because it's poorly animated, it sucks mainly because Jim is lazy and didn't put a lot of thought into his main "character".

The Chip Chipperson cartoon feels like if Chip Chipperson really wrote it.

And animated it. And voiced acted every character. And promoted it.
