I took one of these and found out I am hella French.

Most of these tests are weighted due to the amount of samples from England and Americans of English descent. Almost everyone that is not British has a wider set of search samples and doesn't give you the most accurate results. I came out as 8% Georgian but every white person has genes from Georgia, there just aren't enough people in the company's database to match you with so they go back further until they find a match. As an apparently now French-Sicilian I just take this to mean they don't have any data from Catania so they go further back until they get to Georgia.

In closing, this company likely does not have any Egyptians to match him to so they have to go back as far as possible which would be black for everyone.

No, that is not how 23andme works. So say they only tested east asians, it doesn't mean only east asians are represented.

They have a series of samples (usually greater than 1000) from historical evidence, like for me, exhumed bodies from a Danish cemetery from a certain time period. They then do combinatorial analysis on those samples to find a unique pattern that can be generalised to known haplotypes.

All of that is COMPLETELY different from the analysis where they find "genetic relatives" which is what you are talking about.

Also saying "all white people have genes from Georgia" is not accurate. It is true that the phenotypes for white people came from above the pontic steppe (lower melatonin for vitamin d production and then in subset populations the ability to process lactose into adulthood, or higher resistance to alcohol and sugar/carbs). But none of that would matter, all the samples they use come from not 40 000 - 20 000 years ago, they are taking samples from 1000 to 500 years ago (all of this is mentioned in the reading material) as they want to get modern groups but before mass migration was a possibility like it is today.

So some of your ancestry is probably from Georgia or at least settled there for a few generations, assuming you are American, this seems likely as America is basically a Germanic shell that was steadily filled up with Italic and Slavic cultures overtime (and later, South American, Middle East and Asian cultures).

Also you will notice 3 possible interpretations on their data, there is speculative, conservative and known. Conservative is known will have a fairly high accuracy rate as the cross over on genes is known through Mendels Laws.

You should also look at your haplotypes as that will give you an idea of ancestry further back than the analysed samples. Using that you can determine "what kind of white" you are historically, further back to the Pontic Steppe which you refer to. Mine has nothing about Georgia, but the origins of that paternal haplotype will go all the way back to Siberia and mammoth hunters 40 000 years ago (as do all Germanics), but my recent ancestry checked in the ancestry check will basically consist soley of Germanic cultures. So it is possible you might be a mix of Slavic and Romantic origins.

I did mine through ancestry which does give you generalized geographic areas of origin based on their data. The didn't tell me I was Georgian, just the Caucasus region. I was only guessing it would be Georgian based on nothing but Georgia being inside the circle on the map they gave me. I later discovered that many other Italians were told around 10% of their genes were from the Caucasus. Italy, particularly Southern peninsular Italy and eastern Sicily is considered a "genetic island". Italy and Ireland are the only places in Europe that have genetically homogenous populations. Italians today still have the same genetic data as the first people to inhabit the country. This leads many people to still have a significant amount of genes that can be traced to prehistoric migration.
