Worked hard at getting the network up and running on what was probably very little money and under difficult circumstances.
Moved on the better himself and move up in his field, but is/was always around to help or assist with their technical issues. Even after he was technically an ex-employee.

He also showed the ability to learn from mistakes, quickly at that. I'd hire the dude.
As far as all of the other personal shit you mentioned, I never really spent that much time analyzing the kid.
