This is totally it; if you have a set career path that doesn't necessitate a college/graduate degree (honestly, like Jimmy, who was doing comedy from his early 20s) then you certainly can make the argument that college carries no value for you.
If you're drifting in your 30s as an HVAC repairman then maybe at least getting a GED would have helped.
Exactly this. My education allowed me to make my own schedule, enjoy some vacation and be treated like a gentleman wherever I work. Yeah, I have manageable debt. I'd still do it all over again.
I don't go out of my way to flaunt my education. But, nothing bothers me more than some asshole berating my education or education in general.
"Let me Google that" should not be a phrase that comes out of your doctor/lawyer/architect's mouth.
you think cuz someone goes to college they're automatically some liberal who studied something worthless. i'm getting an a.a. (anthony should consider a different type of AA) in welding. graduating from college will set me apart from the monkey welders.
a degree in anything has more value than no degree. that being said, you don't need a degree to succeed either.
His name is mouthful of cum and he bashes Republican politics while "appearing" neutral and saying nothing of Democrats or liberals - totally not an AIDS infested liberal faggot queer redditor like the rest of this sub.
You got it - the men here make Andy Dick look like Gary Cooper. This sub is full of these sneaky faggots who say they don't like politics, but what they mean is they don't like (Ant talking conservative) politics, while they sit there mixing a new vat of liberal AIDS cum to inject into themselves, looking forward to the next Gawker headline about raythitht Republicunts and Twump thupporting the KKKay.
Well, I think this is either a)KeithTheCuck b)Brother Joe or c)a metatroll
Either way, I'll give you a real answer:
I went to college for accounting, and I work as an auditor at an insurance company. I actually learned how to read bank statements, check tax income, compare what they report vs. what they actually earned, etc, etc. While I do need to goggle some obscure rules or something I haven't used in a while, I actually learned what I'm doing; I don't need to google for my everyday work. Furthermore, you can't just google "how to do an audit" and just go conduct one.
Hard to take a guy broadcasting out of his basement to maybe 300 people seriously on any subject matter, especially since he didn't even get through 12th grade.
You don't go to college to learn. You go to college with the goal of boosting your starting salary so that your projected wage growth paired with that initial boost exceeds the opportunity cost of the money and projected growth you would be making working as a blue-collar guy (the highest potential wages for a high school grad, assuming you don't invent an app or some shit). If that's higher than it's a good move. You probably never thought about what opportunity cost is, that's another thing college is good for; learning new shit that you never would have thought to take a gander at.
I'm an hour away from my physics class than it's on to sociology (good luck googling that buddy) but I learned my most important lesson from this sub. drop my broadcasting class, who the fuck wants to be in entertainment with the sjw mentality of America?
At college I learned that in order to pass exams you have to have more than just a general understanding of something. Yes, you can pick up the gist of almost any topic from searching the internet, but there's a world of difference between that and the standard required to pass even the easiest mid term.
You have to spend hours every night pouring over books and reworking something to achieve the standard that a college course demands. Wiki and youtube might make you think you understand something, but you have no idea what you don't know until you're sitting in an exam and realize that sure you thought you understood evolution, but now you can't remember the difference between RNA and DNA, or even spell out what they stand for.
College teaches you that you really know fuck all, and what you know you'll have forgotten in a week, and to be able to talk about something intelligently requires a lot of repetitive work and study. College is pretty much the only place outside of a job that will force people to do that kind of work.
Sure, but they still need to do that work, and people outside of college rarely ever do.
You could probably learn calculus in your spare time, but if you're not forced to answer questions in tutorials, facing a quiz every few weeks, with an exam every few months what incentive is there for you to ensure your standard is high? A driven person could probably achieve that standard, but most won't. They'll delude themselves into thinking that their general understanding is enough, and they'll never really know until their abilities are challenged.
It's not the 1950s anymore. To not graduate high school you have to be aggressively dysfunctional. Gone are the days when you could just "flunk out." There has to be some kind of mental illness or serious drug problem for you not to graduate.
I really don't rag on Anthony or join the hate brigade. I fuck around here and there but its all in good fun. Higher education is important though, man. Anthony got lucky and struck gold but if you honestly think that would happen to any HS drop out who worked hard enough, you're sorely mistaken. Most people in this sub probably don't have a higher education so they are the wrong ones to ask. Honestly your entire post reeks of jealousy for friends you have seen go to college and be more successful than you.
Frankfurt School indoctrination of Social Justice zombies that you now see populating this subreddit.
I agree with this completely. But most of those people are very young and will eventually learn how ridiculous they sound unless they surround themselves with those same douchey ideas for the rest of their lives.

the anthony fanbase is down to science deniers and people who mock higher education.

Versus the non-Anthony fanbase that's all about sucking cock, liberal politics, and getting an AIDS cum shot right into their bleeding assholes.
