All the show staff siding with Pete Davidson now. Even paul the video guy said something like "its not like you watched their new show promo" and starting trashing it
What a fucking fag. I liked how E-rock, Travis, and Paul all came to the defense of Pete. They all were along the lines of "Don't have this job if you're sensitive about losing the other job."
i know that the stangels were there to "write" for the show, but what exactly does that mean? It's a free form radio talk show... how do you write for that? it's not like they have produced bits, right?
that's so weird... was that the original arrangement? how the hell would anyone think that was a good idea to bring them on? i guess i've just been out of the loop for a year or so, so it doesn't make any sense to me
Opie needs his guys. With Sam leaving he needed placeholders to make him look like a big shot with a lot of people buzzing around the studio. Doesn't matter what they do, just that they're His Guys. He needs to impress guests, show friends, and the other employees by having more than a small handful of people doing busywork.
Honestly, if you listen to his earlier stuff on K-rock and before he seemed to be on the ball and kept up with Anthony. It's very weird when I hear those old bits because it's like Opie lost something along the way.
It was an attempt to attach the show to Letterman without a thought about chemistry or strategy plus it required zero real work on behalf of the Titster. He needed the Stangel names to "build the brand" and go viral. Plus if it worked he would be hailed as a genius ship steerer and if it failed he would blame the walrus brothers. Win/win.
Can't be sure but probably. One thing's certain, Sam started firing a lot more shots at the end. Whether it's because he knew he was out or he was booted because of it, who knows. But I think we all know Sam looked at tits the way he looked at Scorch. Question is, did dimwit ever realize it?
anyone that opie felt liked ant or had allegiance to ant has felt the greggshells wrath. look at poor jimmy, opie has asked him to leave. erock and roland wouldnt even say hi to ant when they crossed paths with anthony at comicon. speaks volumes why theyre around.
Pretty sure he left the show long ago. He's never in studio. Never really gets mentioned either. He definitely doesn't do any work for that show. If he was in the adjacent offices for any amount of time in the morning, they'd at least mention him more than once every month or two.
It's Opie's idea. He wanted to show he had clout with SXM. Enough to pay 2 producers who had zero experience in radio, but years of experience at Letterman. Opie sucks, and I don't like him.
Justing saying "it's all good" when Pete makes his first joke, he didn't even play the good sport for even a second. Btw, it's Pete doing the same shit on Justin thing he does all the time. Justin's thin skin is atrociously out of place, he's horrible. It's about .01% of the abuse Erock used to take. What a vagina.
I know no one will agree, but I kind of side with the Stangels on this one. Syndicated daytime TV shows pay a shit ton of money, much more than whatever XM is paying those two. It's obvious that there has been some history where they've explained to Opie that shit talking their projects on the radio makes major headaches for them afterwards.
I'd be royally pissed too if some stoner 20 year old with nothing on the line thought it was funny to fuck with my payday. It's easy to say "fuck them, it's just all in fun" until you're the one who has to make the call to smooth things over or see your million dollar payoff vanish.
I truly hate to say it, but, the past week or two of Opie's show has pulled me back in. I was a daily listener from the late 90's on WNEW and then when Ant left I gave up Opie's show and eventually even gave up on daily TACS watching.
The guests and topics on O&J lately (Sherrod aside) have sucked me back in...

This was the best trashing anyone has received in a long time. Pete Davidson is the future.

7 crunchtimestudio 2016-03-07
Please tell me this isn't happening - is Opie pulling a decent show out the bag right at Ant's lowest point (and while he's in court, no less)
39 glasswork 2016-03-07
No. Pete Davidson is pulling a decent show. Opie is just tied to the ship.

The ship's buxom maidenhead.

Opie actually said that he used the Stangels to "reinvent" himself. What does that even mean? How has he reinvented himself?
11 patio87 2016-03-07
Into a generic morning zoo radio hack. The key word is generic. Just look at their logo. It's not even painted on the wall.
2 TotallyNotObsi 2016-03-07
But he was always pretty much that. It's just that the people around him were funny.

I know. I get the same feeling. Even his voice sounds different. Maybe he has a brain tumor?

opie's comment is beyond bizarre. he "reinvented" himself.
4 TheFatMosque 2016-03-07
didn't Opie make the decision to banish Sam to nights? didn't Opie willingly replace Sam and on-air Erock with these two guys?

Sam's leaving?
I know he was banished to a late night show no one listens to, but didn't know he was leaving.

They essentially write: "TRUMP" on a notecard and give it to Opie.
3 KingTutsstache 2016-03-07
It's a pay rate thing. They are basically content producers but just to get paid more got the title writers

That might be true, but stirring shit up is what made O&A what it was. It's nice to get a little taste of it again. Just a taste though.
