If it weren't for his desperation to go viral causing to him exploit and humiliate homeless people on the street, I would almost be willing to say Opie is probably a pretty stand-up guy in real life. Absolutely not. I was listening to an old show with Patrice earlier tonight, and Opie's buffoonery was stepping on everything. It was the one right before the animation festival. He's a destroyer of fun.

I wasn't an O&A fan during the whole CakeStomp "Virus" years... But i'd guess the clips are way more cringey in hindsight. The desperation is off putting but I do get what he is trying to do and that is make "Opie Radio" the "Stern isn't on today so switch to our channel we'll have someone you may have heard of on..."

Which i'm not a fan of, but I can understand why he is doing it, half of the edge got fired and the other half may be gone in October. If he just hires another dirty comic to replace Jimmy the move will be more hated than if he just goes in another direction.

I'm not talking about the Cakestomp, which is actually somewhat defensible in the context of it being a live segment of the show and the fact that they had a pre-existing relationship with Homeless Andrew. There are videos on his YouTube channel (some of them fairly recent) that are honestly much crueler imho. Videos like this aren't him performing for a crowd or "doing something for the show," it's him all on his own doing his business in the city and deciding to taunt and humiliate someone for no other reason than a vain hope of "going viral."

First, this is shit that happened awhile ago. Ive already admitted he was an asshole.

But to play devils advicate, I'm sure he gave those homeless people more than he took. The cake stomp didnt bother me because cake is some unhealthy disgustiung shit to give a homeless person. Giving a homeless person a cake is actually kind of shitty. Spitting in their face would be a healthier than giving them a fucking cake. Opie claims to have given this guy actuyal money and food- so fuck that cake. The smashing of that womans guitar bothered me more because guitars have sentimental value. Opie was like a concert promoter where he was able to organize a show where a lot a entertaining talent get together and jammed. That doesn't take any discernible talent but, maybe, that's a talent onto its own. Who knows.

The only thing that's changed for me is that Opie probably really did feel rejected by Anthony. Yeah but I think Opie was the driving force behind fucking with everyone and trashing radio shows. For example, Jimmy hated how he'd make comedians and guests wait to come into the studio, while Opie took pointless phone calls and whatnot. That is a sign of a guy who needed to feel powerful and in control in a really bizarre way. I think Anthony, after the dick sucking he naturally gave to Opie in the early days, started to resent how Opie ran the show and when the comedians started coming in regularly he realized how talentless from a creative point of view Opie really was. and Opie absolutely lacked the self awareness that he was terrible. I went to the xm studio on 57th st a couple times after they redid the studio. Opie seemed genuinely appreciative of the fans and would come and chat during commercials. Ant couldnt give a fuck.
