Ant has fucked up a lot recently, but lets not forget that he's actually an interesting personality. We need to channel our hate towards Opie more, because he is a buffoon
Ant is like an older cousin of your parents who you only see maybe once a year but he's always shitfaced and telling the same stories. You love him at first, but then you get tired of his stories and his talking points, and then you slowly start to realize he actually believes the bullshit he's been spewing the past 8 years. It wasn't just drunken conversation. This guy actually thinks global warming is a falsehood drummed up by the democrats.
"Holy shit", you think, as the moment of clarity washes over you. Your favorite relative is a dumb asshole. When you later hear he was involved in a domestic it doesn't even phase you.
It's not about choosing sides just because there is a lot of Anthony posts lately doesn't mean that there is a positive push for Opie at all. It just means that Opie hasn't done anything to catch our attention lately. When everyone attacks Opie, it doesn't really mean that Anthony is on the upswing either.
IMO the difference is that Opie is expected to fail, so when he fails at radio it's entertaining and what we want, and when they actually manage to have a decent show, everyone wins too. So it's a win win with Opie. However with Anthony, it's not fun watching him fail. Watching him twiddle his thumbs nervously and do this really unnatural laugh at his own jokes web show is just a pitiful awful sight. He was supposed to be the one that carried the O&A flag onwards and instead, they both left it sitting in the dirt. I don't really understand this soft spot thing for Anthony that some people seem to have. There's just not a chance that if youve been with these guys for 5 or more years you would have any sense left to defend them or have a soft spot for either of them at this point. They are both conscious of what they are doing and deliberately changing their products, or making a mess of themselves, and this is a natural response from fans of what O&A was, not what O&J or what TACS is
If Ant is successful long term in building a network with quality programming, settles his personal matters and focuses on putting out a better product himself. Yes, Ant could once again be a great bringer of the funny and a very successful business man. He has that potential. Unfortunately he hasn't realized that potential and is on, what would appear to many to be, a self-inflicted downward spiral.
Opie though, you can't say the same. He has very little potential in the best of scenarios, let alone building something entertaining and making it work from scratch. Opie is a one-legged midget trying to compete in a Rodeo, it's over before it even begins. He's smug, annoying, dumb as a fucking rock and possesses zero redeeming qualities.
