All of this has got to weigh on a guy. He went from being on top of the world to essentially persona non grata, and the only thing he had going was his home studio. You can't blame him for becoming depressed and acting out. Yes, a lot of this is of his own making; he chose not to settle down and start a family, but rather to surround himself with golddigging whores. That's on him and he knows it, but that doesn't make it any easier to deal with. And frankly, the fact that he was an unreformed man-child is what made him so consistently entertaining on O&A for all those years. Now it's an albatross. Calling him out for the very thing that made him so funny to us all is disingenuous and unfair.

Again, not making excuses for the guy. But he's provided us with decades of entertainment and now he's going through a very hard time. Of course people are going to rag on him here, because that's what O&A fans do. But honestly, I don't know how many people given the circumstances he's in could have done any better. This sub has actually been quite effective related to my experience. I was a regular listener very late to the game until I saw the "Opie smashes the homeless guys cake" video. I have been weening myself ever since. I don't rant but I won't support that type of behavior.

Hey Ant, dunno if you'll see this but I'll give it a shot.

First I should say that I agree with you in that, if the water levels are rising, we'll be able to adapt to it because it's not like the water is rising by inches per day, it's inches over many years.

Having said that, Bill Nye failed to bring up the most urgent effect that the changing climate will have on our planet: mass starvation. Temperatures are rising by an average of 2 degrees per year (I think), but that's an average and in some areas it's much much higher. The areas that will be most horribly affected are the ones where a majority of the Earth's food is grown which will have a ripple effect on the rest of the Earth's population. It's argued by some that the desperation that comes with starvation will lead to a lot of violence on top of the increase in hunger.

That point is something that I don't see climate scientists bring up too often which is disappointing because it's more relate-able than water slowly rising in Florida. The rest of the world is probably better off with Florida under water anyway.

Did anything in particular happen to set off this thread?? Everyone knows this Subreddit is crazy, and everyone involved wifh the old O&A show gets it both barrels to some extent, but lately I don't really recall anything really recently to set him off.

Yea, the Dani thing was a big deal a few months ago and IMO it really took away the steam TACS was building the end of 2015. But the network itself.....the Skanks have been chugging along solid. Gavin is always good and his marathon attempt was fantastic. East Side Dave has been a cool addition to things. Pat and Mandy seem to have settled in and are growing their audience. For TACS itself, last week was the best week of TACS in months with 4 totally solid shows with almost unamimous positive feedback.

So what the fuck set him off to go off on Reddit?? Sure, there's been times he was annoyed with what goes on here, and he responded on TACS with a mix of amusement, exasperation, and annoyance, but at the same time I do think he reads shit and to some extent he does take some criticism and works to acknowledge it and make it better. At the same time, he's given props to this board and the havoc wrecked with DeRosa and Opie and sicked the fans many times when needed.

Now suddenly out of the blue with seemingly nothing happening to warrant it, he goes off and basically says FUCK YOU to a fairly big group of people who I think deep down are/were still giant fans of him.....seems strange to me. Did something happen on Twitter?? Or maybe a personal interaction that led to this? Led to him to publicly back up and support Opie??!!

A few weeks ago, Anthony had Neil deGrasse Tyson on his show. Someone had done Ant a favor and he was respectful, inquisitive and it was well-received (An absolute rarity on TACS). Anthony was happy with the results and even released the video himself, where it got a lot of views and positive feedback.

Two days ago, Anthony had Bill Nye (The science guy) on. He is a friend of Neil deGrasse Tyson's and more than likely was only there because of him. Instead of being cordial like he was with NGT, he felt obligated to pander to curmudgeon Nick Dipaolo's ignorant partisan hackery and he & Dipaolo berated Nye because of Anthony's views on climate change. High school dropout Anthony looked like the moron he is when it comes to anything beyond superficial mockery of celebrities.

This subreddit (And yes, your Twitter friends, Ant) tore him up for it and he became very insecure and angry about the negative criticism. An 18 pack of Bud Ice later, he started posting here around 3-4 am Eastern Standard Time last night.

Opie was crying on Twitter and calling me a hater when I tweeted him that he bitched and moaned when JJ Abrams blew off the OJ show for Star Wars, yet a month later he gets arguably as big a movie director for arguably a movie that's possibly gonna be as big as Star Wars.....and he hung up on Snyder like an asshole, and then talked shit about him like the guy was a Stangel in the couple of minutes it took to get him back on the line. I'll be honest though. I really enjoyed the Nye episode. It was funny and cringeworthy listening to DiPaolo come out like a pit bull, and in the end, I don't think they were super disrespectful. I think if Ant and Nick could have gotten on the same page a little more and pulled a well executed "good cop, bad cop," it could have come off a little better. I'm surprised him and Nick didn't have some better arguments, to be honest. There were a dozen times I was yelling at my computer screen the perfect comeback to some of Nye's horseshit, and those guys came up flat.

I don't watch the show to see Ant being cordial with science guys, the show with Nye was way more entertaining than the show with NGT.
