Chip makes no fucking sense as a character unless he's being played off of normal people and conversations. All the humor is derived from his interjections into regular conversations with his awfulness that brings everything to a screeching halt. That's it. That's why he's funny.
When you take him and put him in his own universe as a standalone, he just stops being funny, and becomes annoying and predictable. The humor goes away completely.
I would think that as an experienced comic, Jim would understand this. Although there's probably a reason why he's never really progressed past a certain point. But you'd think Colin would have explained some of this shit to him at some point.
Exactly. A cartoon would be fine if it followed a normal character and he was the "comic relief" that pops in like the fat best friend on sitcoms.
I think he should have put together a live action show sort of like the "Jon Benjamin has a van" type show where he goes out and just fucks with /interviews normal people. He's not famous enough where people will recognize him.
Of course Chip does great on stage - people are excited to see him live. People also went CRAZY for the same fucking nursery rhymes that Dice did, when they saw him live.
