Vos once told a story about him and a buddy coping some crack. On the way back his friend fell out of the car and Vos's first thought, as his friend tumbled out the moving vehicle was, "If he dies, I get his share of the crack".
Jim once told a story about how he drank too much and acted foolishly in front of his father.
Yeah its a tough one but I think Jimmy was the most hardcore super addict to ever live.

Wasnt there a story with him crying and wanting to cut someone with a boxcutter because they didnt say hi to him the right way?

That's the real Jimmy, alcohol didn't make that happen, it just made him lose control of the clown act that he hid his insecurity behind his whole life. He didn't "get sober" because he was addicted, it's because the real sad and lonely Jim shows up when he's too uninhibited to throw up a wall of AIDS jokes. Pretending you are an addict because you're too pussy to keep your emotions in check when you drink doesn't make you an addict, it makes you a bad drunk. It's fucking insulting to real addicts that he ever uses that term.

Yeah, in vino veritas. I would respect him more if he just said he didnt drink because he didnt like the effect it had on him and stopped with the white-knuckling, meetings 3 times a week, martyr bullshit

To be fair he really is an addict but he plays it up which is disgusting. Well that and the fact that he is still a lonley sex addict and a autograph addict while running an advice show and not actively working on those problems. The reason people don't sympathise with Jim is because he had stable parents and homelife but managed to fuck his life up anyway and continues to without showing much improvement. Nobody likes to be preached to especially not by an amoral hypocrite.

Yeah, but that's not what we're talking about. I'm talking about when he specifically is talking about quitting drinking. That's poser bullshit, he knows damn well that he was not an alcoholic in the way that a real hardcore alcoholic is. He quit drinking because he didn't like the way he acted, not because he had no control over when and how much he drank. Hey, I get it. Most people drink, and it's easier to just pretend to be an alcoholic than explain to everyone who asks why you don't drink. That's all it is, though.

All these sober comics need know sobriety is nothing to be proud of. It simply means you lack the willpower and maturity to drink responsibly. Yet they wear it like a badge of honor and a way to put themselves above others.

It's just what they have to tell themselves. I remember Jay Mohr going "there's nothing more bad ass than going to a bar and ordering a water!" If you go to a bar, drink alcohol or don't, either way is not "bad ass". No one gives a fuck about what you're drinking

Unless it's that precious Prince Nagle seed.

Actually I wear my alcoholism as a badge.

Yes addiction is caused by
a combination of genetic, mental, circumstantial and emotional factorsimmaturity2 numba13 2016-02-16
One time my husband(the king) slapped the dog shit out of me, it left a bruise. Wanna know what I told that fat alcoholic? "I shall wear it like a badge of honor" LMAO
1 Dannyprecise 2016-02-16
Not sure if you're joking or not but I do like this take on it. I drink. I've tried drugs. Never got addicted. My willpower is strong
1 FoetusCorruptus 2016-02-16
It's about more than just willpower, everyone has differing brain chemistry. Drugs and alcohol hit people differently.

Jim always talks about hitting rock bottom. IIRC, he had a six pack of Rolling Rock and started singing Sweet Home Alabama.
By the time he realized what was going on, 12 hours had passed and he had eaten one and a half Big Macs and a 20 piece McNuggets.
He knew it was time to get help.

Weird how one man's rock bottom is another man's way to close out a nice Saturday night.

Love hearing insight and advice from a 50 year old man who can't drink a beer cause he hasn't matured since he was a teen

His past addiction was way better than his current bad radio addiction.
9 DireWolf2121 2016-02-16
Hey jimmy was 16 once and drank a little too much. That's a serious addiction, he could have been killed.
7 JMueller2012 2016-02-16
"She didn't follow up after our date. She couldn't handle my past"
Fucking disgusting

It's actually pretty common for women to be creeped out by some guy that likes to fuck trannies.

Jimmy might have been a worse addict that Vos. It's not the amount of drugs or alcohol you do that decides if you're a worse addict them somebody else, it's how much of a tortured, anguished individual you are. Jimmy probably had a true dark night of the soul as he sipped that shot of beer he had when he was 17, and he has been tortured by it ever since.
2 peckaface 2016-02-16
You arnt an addict unless you suck dick for your drug. I doubt jimmy ever sucked dick for a beer
59 panasonictooth 2016-02-16

That doesn't make him at addict, that just makes him a faggot
2 Det_Sipowicz 2016-02-16
Maron had David Spade on WTF I think last month, and Spade completely validates the "kidnapping" story with Vos and whoever else was there, I forget. (That was actually a great fucking interview)

Jim was 18 and was just a shitty kid. Dangg! Addict!
-8 BumbiBestie 2016-02-16
Jim tried to kill himself while he was fucked up. He doesn't need to prove himself to people. He's sober, so what? At least he has a solid reason. It's been proven that death is very bad for your long-term health. Maybe he talks about it a lot, but at least he's not some douchey straight-edge hipster who acts superior because they've never tried shit.
10 [deleted] 2016-02-16
I think Jimmy himself even admitted it was a half ass attempt to get attention.
10 bizzlbone 2016-02-16
Jim seems to be a fan of those.
7 FoetusCorruptus 2016-02-16
Jim tried to "kill himself" because he wanted attention. So he can't handle his booze and makes bad decisions, that's not the same as being an addict. An alcoholic isn't someone who does dumb shit when they are drunk, it's someone who can't stop getting drunk no matter what the personal cost.
