Doubt it's a coincidence, even the joke before he started with Michael Jackson watching OJ's kid is straight from the song. Don't know who had it first but someone definitely got ripped off.
And on the other hand, Anthony was a huge Stern fan at the time. This is like how Amy opened for the comics she allegedly stole from, which made it harder for her to claim she never heard the jokes.
The Ojeda scalping thing actually had to do with a dock, so of course The Dock of the Bay makes sense as the starting point for a parody about a dock accident. That doesn't make it a popular parody template. Rotgut's OJ song lyrics couldn't even fit the melody of Dock without shaving a syllable off of "electric". It's not a natural fit musically or topically.

You see a conspiracy... I see people who didn't think of obvious alternatives. "They gonna fry your boy, OJ." would have been just as on topic for the song and would have better fit rhythmically with the original as well.
I think what's more likely is they tried to think of something that rhymes with "OJ". There are only a few words that rhyme with J to begin with, and fewer that are in popular song titles that somewhat fit.
Worst case scenario is he reworked a callers joke into a parody song so he could get on the radio. The caller doesn't write parody songs for a living and neither does Ant.
I might get downvoted to oblivion for going against the consensus but who cares if he was? It's not the shitty songs we love(d) him for, it was the almost Jimmy-quick lines he came up with, and those definetly weren't stolen. And if my life was as shitty as he made his sound like, I'd do anything to get me ahead.

This is REALLY bad. Clearly everything in our collective memories about Anthony Cumia post 1994 should be expunged.

That's probably how he got the idea for what song to parody. The lyrics are completely original.

Not a conspiracy, just a rushed, hack job.

He was so eager to be a star then. No "cheep-cheep-cheep" in the tree house that night, fellas.

They should call him Anthony . . . Schumia now!

Sitting on the Dock of the Bay isn't some obscure song, it's extremely well known. Nothing to see here.

Is this what people consider the glory days of Howard Stern? Boy...
19 onemancrimespree 2016-02-14
No, a 45 second clip is not what people consider the glory days of Howard Stern.
