Advertising is a part of marketing, but marketing implies a lot more. Given that they are manipulating their platform for the advertisements they aren't really doing any marketing, just advertising their stuff through every channel they have.
I would consider this marketing. They've marketed it across youtube as a whole to shove this garbage down our throats.. judging by the likes/views ratio: it worked.
